That is a really hard choice to make. I love all of the games in the list! (I know its a Speccy - but even me, a C64 fanboy fell in love with these games!)

So I have gone for Manic Miner.

Dynamite Dan was almost my choice though!

You sure you're actually reading this mag? These games are basically covered every 2nd page, with screenshots and all.

Jet Set Willy for me... whilst Manic Miner is superb, and led the way, the sense of exploration and finding new rooms in JSW, edges it for me.
I still to this day remember the joy of finding obscure and hard to get to rooms.

Doesn't Dynamite Dan bring back a few bad memories for you or at least leave a bad taste in your mouth?

So if 3 of us have voted for Chuckie Egg then why does it say there's only 2 that's voted? :?

Because this stupid f**king new forum STILL doesn't really work properly for me

If you'd asked me the question mid 80's I couldn't have chosen between them, 4 great little platformers.

Playing all four back now I'd have to say that Chuckie Egg is the only one I've really enjoyed playing 25 years later - the controls are just superb.

The best Speccy platformer of all time involves a certain talpidae and his European adventures.

Easily Manic Miner - it proved that if tickled in the right places, the ZX could handle both in-game music and animated loading screens.

All 4 are fantastic games, but the one I go back to the most is Chuckie Egg. Far more forgiving than Manic Miner, less likely to make you throw the TV than Dynamite Dan and cuter than JSW.

The only platformer I ever played on the Spectrum was Captain Dynamo. I was more into Gauntlet II, Shadow of the Beast, Rolling Thunder and 720* myself.

My head says Manic Miner, my heart says I wish I'd known about "6031769" a lot earlier.
