I really have enjoyed this issue so far, up to page 49, and pretty much read every word, had a quick flick through the rest of the mag before I got off the train and it all looks good. Well dones guys, glad you are still entertaining me 83 issues in. Iain Lee was as entertaining as usuaul too :D, come come him and Paul Davies have disappeared from the front page with all the team, sometimes they appear there, sometimes not!
Well done on the award too.

Shame there won't be a christmas theme to the cover, I think we all would like Crash magazine syle xmas covers. Even just a bit of glitter or snow around the RG logo is always welcome, but then I love crimbo!

By the way I think this months issue is pretty good, I'm not a fan of the Nintendo covers either, only because it's not the pixelated image I crave, it just looks too recent for me. Not moaning though as whenever there is Speccy or Amiga related content, I'm happy.

In response to the reply to the ninja turtles letter about a review for the C64 game, a feature about all of their games would go down so well.... please!

Good Allan Alcorn article. Enjoying the magazine so far. There are very few good James Bond games though, the section reminds me of how bad Live and Let die - the computer game was. Nice one guys. Found a good 5 part video on youtube if anyone is interested and has not already sen it it features Allan Alcorn and Atari. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vROxoEyB9UE

I think the current issue is excellent.

It really does have the perfect balance of old and new that feels just right.

The only thing I'd say is that in the James Bond article, the images you use for the later games (Everything or Nothing, Nightfire etc) don't appear to be actual in game screenshots. They look like they're from cut-scenes or preview shots. I'd prefer to have in game screenshots wherever possible. :)

Normally I'd have a right moan about any issue that doesn't feature Speccy graphics on the front, but actually I really liked this one.

The article on piracy started off well, with some nice comment on how and why, and the coverage of protection systems was OK, but there could have been comment about how easily a lot of them were overcome by simple hacks or manually copying out the code sheets, and the strange 'uncopyable' disk formats and hacked compacted disks that circulated for the 16-bits. Again, it seemed to jump from Lenslok on the 8-bits to manual-heavy PC games as if the ST/Amiga never existed.

But the comment from Gary Bracey was frank, honest and excellent. I'm sure ol' Bruce would have provided you with some contrasting quotes for us all to have a giggle over though, if the article needed a bit more filler...

The interview with Al Alcorn was great too, where he sets the record straight on that artificial history of the Pong machine. This is a great bit of journalism.

There was even a feature on an ST game (Black Lamp), so an extra wow from me!

As for the cover, I just assumed it was a sponsored advert like a lot of mags feature on their covers and didn't pay it much attention.

Popped up this morning, and as always a cracker. Not 100% my cup of tea, but how can it be? In all fairness though, got to say about 1 in every 4 issues is almost made for me cover to cover. That's f**kin impressive. :D

PS I agree with this regardless

I am going to say that whilst I am rather bored of the recent Nintendo fascination, this issue is not just big N. If it wasn't for the corporate cover (that I don't like simply because the image on my two flaps doesn't line up) I don't think anyone would have raised an eyebrow at the amount of coverage.

You was quick to change the leader to "award winning" Darran ;)

On the whole I thought this issue was ok.

Liked the article on piracy, whilst back in the day I didn't know of ANYONE who didn't partake in the ole tape to tape malarky!

With regards the Nintendo coverage, I think it has been a question of bad? timing ( I think someone else has mentioned) with the anniversary and the new games been released. I suppose you cannot have on without the other...

However I don't see the same wrath deployed against the Castlevania games...

What I enjoy most about RG is the discoveries, the off-the-beaten track stuff. So this issue the most interesting article for me was the one on Radical Software. I'm going to check those games out, because in the hands of the right programmer, and with dedicated development, the CPC seems a different kind of machine altogether from the one that suffered from so many poor ports in the late 1980s.

Have to admit I was put off by this issue's cover, but after a quick flick through I found it to be one of the most interesting issues in a long time. I loved the piracy issue, the fomented section is as excellent as always as is the unconverted feature. Would have to agree with the comments saying there is nit enough amiga coverage, but the team have promised to rectify this. Good work fellas on a cracking issue.
