The reason I upgraded from ST to 'miggy was Cinemaware. Played Rocket Ranger on my ST , then on Amiga - Amiga version so much better it was untrue , really highlighted the difference when the machine had games dedicated to it rather than lazy ST ports. The ST was a great machine but just couldnt keep up with Commodore's machine - but what really kick-started the switch to the Amiga was when Commodore brought the price of the A500 down to (Ithink) £399. At that time iirc the ST was selling for about £249 but came with a stack of free games , but now that the superior machine was just about within the spending power of the average Joe it quickly became THE machine to own.

The STe was too little too late. Some ST games came with STe enhancements , but there was no way that publishers were going to make 2 different versions , or even STe exclusive games , especially as the machine wasnt that well received. By that time most ST owners had jumped shipped for Amiga , and there was no way they were going to switch back to a machine which was really - at best - on a par with the A500.

I don't think we got the first Gauntlet, but we got Garrison (and its sequel) which were Gauntlet copies.

Frontline was also released on the Amiga, and Breach II was as well; it was one of my favourite games on the Amiga.

I don't see why ST and Amiga games can't both be combined into any feature with a shared game. I guess the person who is interviewed might have only worked on one version, but screenshots from both and a comparison could be done (Defender of the Crown is a good example of differences, I've heard).

Friend of mine picked up an STe (think by then it was standard ST pack-STFM phased out-Rest of us had the FM models.Other than some nice P.D demo stuff and Captive which had STe enhancements, we never saw him get anything written to take advantage of the hardware.

Mind you i only ever saw a few games take advantage of 1 Meg St's either (Silent Service 2 and Falcon only ones i saw)
By then ST was on the decline-lot of games coming from USA were PC/Amiga only. When developers annouced they were dropping ST support for games, Sam Tramiel said they were 'Slitting thier own throats' as it was easy process to convert Amiga games to ST.

But all the Amiga needed was that price drop and it was game, set and match.

A-Ha. Only saw Frontline and Breach 2 listed as ST back in the day.Guess conversions followed.

Two things here. First, platform typically depends on the primary dev version of a game. If multiple dev versions exist (i.e. a company started work on a game across several platforms), then they're all covered. As for comparisons and conversions, time is often a factor, and those conversions I tend to cover in making-ofs are those of interest for some reason, rather than ones with slight differences.
