Spare RG issue 50 anyone?

Postby DRS on Tue Mar 13, 2012 8:09 pm

Hello all - Paul Drury who scribbles for the mag here. I wondered if anyone could help. I went to see Simon Munnery, the comedian and erstwhile coder of several Vic20 and Speccy games back in the early eighties, at the weekend. I'd interviewed him for Retro Gamer issue 50 (the Desert Island Disks bit) and, as usual with castaways, I'd bought an extra copy and sent it him... via his agent. Turns out he never got it so at the gig I gave him my copy which made him smile.

I've checked the Imagine shop and ebay but RG50 is nowhere to be found thus I just hoped someone on these forums might have a spare copy. I'm happy to buy it off you but if you'd rather swap it for something retro, I collect original arcade flyers and get them signed by the programmers (i then get them framed and put them up in our toilet - if you're ever in Nottingham, come round for a wee and see them....) I have a few 'doubles' - STUN Runner and Gauntlet Legends, signed by Mike Hally; Primal Rage and Hydra signed by Dennis Harper; Fun House (pinball) signed by Larry De Mar. The flyers themselves cost around $10 and then there's the postage getting them sent over the pond for those Atari/Williams boys to sign, so I hope you might think one or two of them seems like a fair deal.

If anyone can help, you'd make me very happy. Cheers.

Paul

Thanks to all who've had a look at this thread but it seems I'm out of luck... if any of you in months/years to come notice an issue 50 on ebay or you miraculously find one in your attic or you need life-saving surgery in America and need cash fast, perhaps you'll drop me a line. Cheers!

Here be one, no surgery needed. Although it is in Essex so protection maybe required.

I don't suppose Simon Munnery lives in Essex? ;)

Thanks for the ebay 'spots' BUT BUT I've just had a message from paranoid marvin saying he has a spare copy (if you indeed believe our tome can ever be considered 'spare' ;]) so I'm in! Also thanks to the boy Grannel for his ebay spotting and Felgekarp who offered to send me his only copy. Cheers boys!

cheers folks (especially, but not only, Mr Marvin) - I'm particularly chuffed as issue 50 has Martyn Carroll's Making of Retro Gamer in which is my joint favourite article ever.
