I'd help out also... no question about it.

But what exactly do you mean about duplicates, do you mean the game has been reviewd twice by different people... if so it'd be a travesty to delete one over the other.

That's not for us to decide... it's about personal memories, we can't just up and destroy what someone has written.

One of my reviews in there, but in my defence, I did a search under Amiga 500 for Walker and nothing came up, so what to do there? Don't really want to pull my review, such that it is, but I agree (again) that the site needs cleaning up a bit.

I think it just needs clear rules. Although it states that there should be only one review for each game on the site, there are clearly lots of duplicates that aren't being taken down.

Sometimes I can see the need for a duplicate, as some games have been taken by a reviewer, but with a very poor 4 line review of them, so a better written one would be welcome. But surely the first review shouldn't have been accepted. I think it comes down to being clearer about what is acceptable and what's not. Maybe allow 2 reviews for each game. I don't think you could say as many as you want, otherwise there'd be 50 reviews of Pac Man and Sonic... or is that a bad thing.

Personally I really like reading other people's views, but the rules need to be clearer.

I knew a few of mine had been duplicated, but I wasn't aware I myself had duplicated one. The game in question is The Terminator on Mega Drive. I have the defence of the first entry being classified under search as an adventure game on C64 game. I'm not removing mine if no one else is going to bother removing theirs! I also remember noticing when doing that search at the time that Darran used an image of the Mega Drive version of the game for his Mega CD entry. *points and stares*

Anyway, coming up with that list is an impressive undertaking, THB. You would make a great Retrobate mod/admin type thing.

Perhaps the reviews could be merged to at least be contained within one entry instead of duplicates with different names etc. causeing major confusion.,

I like that idea - so we get multiple views on the same game, without it coming up in the search loads of times, or something like that.

Great work TwoHeadedBoy, must've taken ages.

I spec'd some c# code to work through the reviews and pull back stats on all sorts of stuff with a view to doing this (amongst other things); I just didn't finish writing the tool :(

Thanks :)
So did I do it the hard or the easy way? Nice to see something's getting done about it now though. Dunno how they'll figure out which ones to pull though, do they have the dates they were posted perhaps? Or will they go with the ones with the most comments? Who knows...

Sounds like the hard way to me - and takes as much effort to do it again as the first time. That said, I'm not sure how much extra work my method will take!
