Maybe we should lobby to have the high score section made into the shmups section. God knows nobody uses the feckin thing anyway.

Also, a bit of a leftfield suggestion since we're 360 centric, but does everyone have Jamestown for t'PC? Could be a good one to include in our league.

Ok guys, can you take a look in the high score section 'The RG Forum Shmup League' thread, and get posting your thoughts about the outline rules and get a debate going on games to play etc. PM people you know who might be interested and send them to the thread.

The only interest that's been shown outside of this thread's posters don't seem to be impressed with the choice of Mushihimesama. Perhaps it might alienate some of the forum.

If you all feel that we should play Mushihimesama regardless, then state your vote on it in the thread. I'm happy to put my vote on it, but need to hear names of other games people might want to play. Names, names, names.

If we decide that we only want to play Cave games, then maybe we should set up a league outside the forum. I don't mind doing it on my blog and keeping track there, or that other site Smurph mentioned he could set it up at.

Anyhow, im cool with whatever is decided, Just need some motion with this if we're going to get this going in time for Feb. Im eager to get playing and have some fun times.

Soooooo, playing more Futari.....

Training mode, doing the fight against Larsa (final boss) in Ultra mode, see...

I've come up with a way of dodging the first attack she uses, which.... seems to mostly involve point-blanking and getting really close to the dragon head.

.......I've clearly been playing this *WAY* too much.

One way or another I'll be putting up a video or three of this fight. At my current skill level, IF I BLOODY WELL DO THINGS RIGHT I can come awful damn close to defeating her second form. (with 4 stocks. I've never seen it done with less, so that's what I set it to).

I was gonna put up a video today, but..... the pattern I died on, third attack in second form, covers the screen in slow-moving purple, yeah, I shouldnt have gotten hit there. Usually I do that one without bombing. Instead I ran into big shiny obvious bullet and that ended the attempt. Was gonna put it up anyway, but.... no, no, I'll get a better recording.

I gotta say though..... most freaking awesome boss fight ever. That music is so damn epic.

Right, well, 10 points to Misery for Mushi then

I dunno, I kinda liked the idea of it being this import stuff we were playing, but the majority are voting for stuff that anyone can play - not to be elitist, you understand, it's just that it's hard enough to get competition on these games.

Dunno what everyone else thinks.

I think the original discussion was about 360 shooters initially and it kind of expanded from there, been away from this thread for a little while but Amidststorm has done a great job in narrowing it down i think. It's a tough one because no matter what gets picked everyone won't be happy, I'm not the greatest Mushi player myself but It'll be fun to learn and compare scores and have some good natured banter ;)

How many of us have all the import shooters, I think there's only Raiden Fighters and Eschatos I'm missing, I can't remember what else is on the list now. If we're going to play import shooters only then I vote we play Ketsui first

By all do you mean all 23 releases, or the PAL and region free ones?

There's actually a hell of a good release list looking at it. Nowhere in comparison to PS1/Saturn or PS2 libraries though but for 2012, i'm pretty happy with that list

A surprisingly good list, yes.

....for a "dead" genre, hah.

ANyway as that list goes I'm missing Bullet Soul, the Otomedius games, Radirgy, Shooting Love, and Mamoru-kun. Oh, and the second Senko no Ronde.

......and I was gonna say something else here but I dont appear to actually be awake just yet.
