Dont forget, they already announced the ending of 360 ports with Mushi.

I'd LOVE for this to mean that they're gonna do them on the PS3 now, but..... no, no, that'd be too bloody awesome to be true. I'm thinking it's gonna be some time before we get any more console ports, since the next gen isnt here just yet.

If they're on a Nintendo console though I WILL DO SOMETHING NOT NICE. That would bother me just a tad.

As for the funky DDP release..... just.... what.... I dont entirely get why that exists. Though I have both versions already anyway.

I don't think Mushihimesama will be the last release on the 360 from cave especially now that the next Xbox isn't coming out til possibly 2014

I don't think we can assume Cave will be sticking with Microsoft. The fact that the 360 is a dodo in Japan might not be a problem for now since it's the established shmup console but they could still want to take the opportunity of a new generation to migrate to a platform with a larger userbase.

I'm calling it now: SDOJ a WiiU launch title.

:D Imagine that. "nintendo sack off COD for WiiU launch in favour of DDP".. Tbh even though my Wii collected dust from the first month i had it, other than for the sublime Mario Galaxy 1&2... I'd be an idiot to buy a WiiU but I know I will.. and if Cave or any amount of companies started releasing shmups (even arcade ports and not updated HD versions), it'd be on my shelf in a matter of days.

I think Nintendo would be a good shout for Cave thinking about it even more. Just not sure how shooting games are for sales generally in this day and age? A shaving of the sales in comparison to the AAA factory releases for sure? It did annoy me that Milestone only released Radirgy on the 360 and the Wii got the others.. but now it is making more sense.

On a side note, Ivello and Karous are awesome. Could be a great shout for the shmup league too down the line. Think they're emulatable.

Development costs (ease & cost of development/porting, cost of licensing &
sdk/dev machines etc) will be a bigger issue than userbase. Knowing Japanese business a lot will hinge on how well companies/staff get along together as well - MS have hosted shmup events, but we know how fickle they are.

Ugh, I'm sure hoping THAT one doesnt happen. I'll be real disappointed in Cave in general if they pull a Crapcom and randomly move to Nintendo's horrid consoles. The DS Ketsui was an experiment, and I hope it STAYS just an experiment.

It's one thing for me to buy the JP 360; it DOES have some other uses beyond JUST the shmups. I play alot of pinball games on it, and I've got some 140 or so games downloaded from XBLA, including some indie titles.

......but a Nintendo console? Well, I had one once, but it had SO little use that I got rid of the idiot thing and havent missed it since. There was one, and ONLY one, game I cared about on there, which is Baroque, and I only cared about it on THERE because the PS2 version means having to use the PS2. Ended up being able to play it on the Dolphin emulator, so didnt need the stupid Wii anymore. I *really* dont want to have to buy a console for *just* the shmups and literally nothing else. Seems such and incredible waste.

.......on the plus side, it seems really easy to emulate Nintendo consoles.

Yep I've got a feeling SDOJ will be WiiU bound, I still think they might surprise us and release it on the 360. Got this nasty feeling that Mushi might be the last 360 shmup :(

Would be nice to see a Ninty console with some games I actually want to play.

However, I think Caves future lies with Steam

They've already repeatedly denounced any ideas of going with Steam.

I found this disappointing, of course.

I've no idea WHAT they might do next, as these go.

........and for the time being, I dont actually care. There arent any more games left of theirs that I dont have in some form or other, aside from SDOJ which I honestly dont care about. Literally EVERYTHING else..... playable on the PC, or there's the 4 on the PS2 as well (but I ended up finding every single one of those on MAME as well).

Still, I kinda wish they'd give SOME clue. They dont like to do that though, lol. They tend to wait till the last possible moment before they give out any info. Like the iOS version of Futari..... no OFFICIAL words on that until maybe 2 weeks before it released. There'd been a vague hint in a video before that, but you had to have been paying attention and had to know exactly what to look for.

Aside from all that though, I still say they need to put out a console port of Progear.

Progear is Cave; Capcom just published. I'm really not sure WHY.

Same with Giga Wing / Mars Matrix, those are made by Takumi.

Of course, being Capcom, they'd probably go into hyper-jackass mode if either of those 2 were to decide that they wanted to put out another version of those games; because, you know, Capcom can make SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much money offa those if they hold on to them somehow.
