But yeah an exceptional game isnt it, think theres 20 levels and more to come in Feb. Only done the first two levels so far and i'm just loving how gorgeous the graphics are. Cant wait for the icade update in Feb so i can play it on my ipad/icade.

But reason 2342342 why iOS gaming is brilliant, 69p for this little corker !!

I shall stop nagging now ;)

The default 'virtual joystick' that's invisible on-screen is the one I'm using. The position of it is in the precise place my left thumb naturally rests on the screen and using it to move left/right just feels so well executed to me. I've not once had to look down to check my thumb's still in the right place and nor have I 'missed' pressing it left/right. Great stuff! :D

20 levels and more (presumably free) ones on their way next month? Colour me delighted!

Re: nagging.
Keep on doing so if you find more gems of the quality of Paper Monsters.

DreamcastRIP wrote:Right, after having played partway through the first stage I have to say I'm extremely impressed so far. The controls (using the default 'virtual joystick') are the best of any platform game of this type I've ever experienced on my iPhone, the production values are impeccable, the physics feel perfect and the variety of items to collect appears well thought out. I don't know how many levels the game has or whether a greater variety of enemies and challenges will be introduced further on into the game but so far it's damned impressive. :D :D :D

Another one of the 'with games this cool why bother buying a 3DS/Vita' efforts on iOS... all for 69p! Stunning.

Yes, a good price for something like this.

Particularly compared to the other handhelds.

This cost me one dollar.... but a game for the 3DS would have been 30 or 40. And it could well have been a game VERY MUCH like this one, just at an extremely dramatically inflated price.

Amazing.

It still just baffles me though, how people will COMPLAIN about iOS prices. This current price is fine... but had it gone up to 5, 6, or GASP, even 7 dollars? Blasphemy! Evil! Such greed! How dare they! And so on and so forth, yada yada yada....

Absurd, no matter how much I see it...

EPOCH has been reduced to a measly 69p! :D :D

I've just played through the first three stages and am loving it. The controls and especially the graphics are fabulous!

Time Ducks - saw this reduced to 69p via AppShopper, read the description and user reviews on the App Store and thought it sounded a potentially great update on the first part of Frogger. I've been playing it to learn what's what as there's lot more to it than Frogger and... it's bloody brilliant! True retro-inspired magic, imho. :D

Just bought 'speed blazers' for £1.99, very good though

http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=120763

Thought it was a bit like an endless runner but people have been saying its more like 'sonic rivals'

Very good game though

As usual with their trailers, this was.... uninformative.

All I want to know is if this has some additional mode like some of their games have, the "iphone" or "smartphone" modes.... which were basicallly arrange modes.

Mushi did not, which was pretty disappointing, really.

As it is, I wont buy this if it DOESNT have one. I really hate DOJ by itself. I do have a copy on 360, it got MAYBE 2 hours of play, and then I never touched it again. Not even sure it still works anymore, that disc is pretty beat up... bah, I dont care enough though.

Normally I like to support Cave, but THIS game, I get tired of hearing about all the bloody time, and.... feh. Yeah. Likely not buying.

Oh well, still waiting to find out what the hell "Saidaioujou" is, from them.

Fortunately there's a whole other shmup to wait for that looks alot less annoying: http://toucharcade.com/2012/01/25/upcom ... -ios-soon/

I dont remember if that's already been linked to in this topic, and.... feh, i'm much too lazy to look. Still, that one, that's the one I'm currently waiting for. I'll likely put up a quite detailed review-ish post of it once it does come out and I've had some time to see what it's really like.

Thanks for the heads-up on Shogun: Rise of the Renegade, Misery. :D

From the trailer ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4LzFRYe-1c ) it looks extremely promising indeed, imho.

Sheesh, I bloody love iOS gaming! :P

Yep.

Baffles me why so many gamers are still unwilling to even TRY it. Always get the "Oh, that doesnt have REAL games on it" reaction half the time from friends I know.

As it is I use mine more than I use my consoles. Well, the current consoles anyway. The retro ones get alot of use when they're hooked up.

And I'm STILL playing Dungeon Raid to death. Whoever came up with the idea for that game deserves a cookie. A cookie made of HAPPY RAINBOWS. Heck, even that shmup coming out there is gonna have a hard time pulling me away from that.

On the note of Dungeon Raid, screw the stupid skull that has the "turn potions into poison" ability. That one's just downright DEVIOUS. Died way too many times because of that blasted thing.

Over the weekend I've been playing a top-down racer called Mini Motor Racing.
It's a real looker. The cars are a bit slow at first but once you start getting through
the game they are a lot faster and handle better.

The full game is at discount at the moment for 69p:

Or try out the Lite version as I did first:

+1 :D

I bought that game too since seeing it listed on AppShopper. Another superb addition to the already great iOS catalogue of top-down racing games sub-genre. Great stuff!

I couldn't cope well with the default virtual steering wheel but since switching to left/right virtual buttons I'm fine with it. :D
