I get the same impression. Too often I've been annoyed at the fact that Game make it difficult to just pick up a game from the shelf priced at £X, and then take it to the till and pay only £X, instead of being flogged other crap. I get that it's a business and that's their prerogative to do that, but It's also mine to take my business elsewhwere.
I do echo the sympathy for the employees, the majority of them are good people including members of this board who are clearly on the customer's side, but like them I know first hard of Games' upper management's dishonesty and comtempt for it's customers, so i don't have much sympathy for the company itself.
It's all very well saying we wish the employees well and hope they don't lose their jobs, but how many of us are going to support them by going out of our way to shop Game. Game would have to make drastic changes to rebuild the bridges they've burned with a lot of disgruntled customers like me. I hope they plan to do more than just cut costs, don't close the shops, make them better.
I actually think the shopping experience would improve
by actually doing less, by dropping that cheesy Game propaganda radio and by stopping the constant needless stock moving. They can make the sale transactions simpler and smoother with less sales crap which only creates conflict and consumes both the customer and staff's time.
