I was looking through this thread and noticed a few games that caught my eye. I am thinking about getting the 2 Left4Dead games and the second Bioshock game. Can the Left4Dead games be played co-cooperatively? Plus, I noticed Borderlands as well. It means I need 4 people I know on Steam though! Some good bargains on Steam at the moment.

Both L4D games are designed with co-op gaming in mind. I've only played it once in co-op but it was much more fun than playing alone. I played with a friend of mine + 2 randoms. The randoms tended to swap fairly frequently - probably getting fed up with my crap play!

I played Borderlands all the way through on solo on both 360 and PC. I found it highly addictive even on my own, but the addition of a friend made things even better, as there were "badass" level enemies almost from the word go (as opposed to cropping up rarely in the solo game until you go to new game +). You don't need 4 people to play, although if you do obviously you can have one of each class - soldier, hunter, siren and berserker. My mate and I played through as a berserker/siren combo which made us pretty good for just ploughing in there and fighting in close quarters (although I did keep having to remind my mate about using his phase abilities, not just to run away but do area-of-effect damage so I could go in with my berserker and punch the living daylights out of everything ...!)

On PC you will need to have a (free) Gamespy account to play Borderlands co-operatively. The L4D games are handled via Steamworks and therefore don't need any other accounts.

Thank you for the reply Havantgottaclue. I started downloading both the Left4Dead games, Borderlands and Bioschock 2 last night. I had to stop them as it went back into the limited period of my ISP. I'll finish the process off tonight.

My steam name is : Katzkatz1 - should anyone want to add me.

I was just thinking about making an RG group on Steam but it seemed quite likely that someone else got there first, and so they have ...

Thank you for that as well, Havantgottaclue. Yes, looks like there are quite a few familiar names on there. I might add myself to that.

I expect most of you Steamers will have noticed already, but there's a week-long Autumn sale at the moment. It's just the warm-up act before the impending Christmas sale so I'm keeping the purse-strings relatively tight this time.

However, I think I might drop a fiver on the Grand Theft Auto collection today. It includes everything from the 1998 original release to Liberty City Stories. I know the PC ports aren't meant to be great but I'm sure I'll get a fiver's worth out of it.

Indeed, £5 for the GTA games is a steal - and I might just go for them too..

i love the Steam sales! I used to hate the idea of digital downloads but not having a massive collection of PC game boxes to go with the consoles ones, does have it's benefits.

There also a much smaller sale on EA's origin store for the next few days:
Crysis 2 £7.50
Medal of Honour £7.50
Bulletstorm £7.50
Battlefield BC 2 £10
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit £10
Dead Space £5
Dead Space 2 £7.50
Dragon Age 2 £7.50
Mass Effect £5
Mass Effect 2 £10
Alice: Madness Returns £10

For one day only Oblivion: Game of the Year Deluxe edition is only £4.99
That includes the regular game plus these expansions:

Shivering Isles
Knights of the Nine Quest
Mehrunes Razor Quest
Fighters Stronghold
Vile Lair
Thieves Den
Wizards Tower
The Orrey
Spell Tomes
Horse Armour

So basically all the DLC. Pretty mental offer.

Steam sales are here! Actually it's day 2 of the sale. It seems to be getting harder and harder to actually buy anything these days though because the servers get absolutely shafted, especially for a couple of hours after 6pm. They appear to have introduced an overlap period too, as yesterday's deals are available for another 3 hours (till 10pm). Whether you'll successfully log on by then though is anyone's guess. But if you can, you'll have the likes of Metro 2033, Just Cause 2 and Singularity for £3.74 each. Can't complain really, can you?

Anyway, highlight of the day for me is Sacred 2 at £3.99. I have it already but will be twisting a couple of arms to get hold of it, or just gifting it to them, because I wanna do co-op.

Also, the much-derided Duke Nukem Forever is £3.49. For that money I am almost certainly in - I played the PC demo and it was okay - nothing to write home about, but for a bargain basement price I'm sure it will offer some old-school fun.

Also, the roguelike Dungeons of Dredmor is 86p. Modern Wombat 2 is a tenner. And so on.

Got so many games off Steam over the past year - and although there are some great offers, nothing has really grabbed me yet. Maybe the Duke............. hmmmm plenty of days left :D

Steam sales are just too insane.

I did get DNF in the end. I've played it for a couple of hours and it's by no means incompetent. However, I really do wish that developers of FPSs would stop suddenly deciding they wished they were writing a platform game. I've just had to do loads of jumping-about-bits in the casino, culminating in a particularly annoying bit where you have to climb up Duke's statue to escape. Grr, these sorts of things get on my wick!
