Poll - Do you play new releases?

Yes, but veeeeeery rarely. Only if something like SC2 or Diablo 3 comes out. All of the "normal" new games aren't of any interest to me.

For current gen, I own a Wii, 360, and a PSP and DS lite. I play Xbox more than anything and Wii is in second place. I've just beat Arkham Asylum, and am now working on Ninja Gaiden 2. For the Wii, I'm FINALLY tackling Twilight Princess, and am enjoying it. PSP, i'm eagerly awaiting 3rd Birthday, and my DS I don't really play as much.

But as far as current gen, I try not to get most new releases until the games go used, but some games are must haves.

I own all current gen consoles but regularly play on the PS3. Just got LittleBigPlanet 2 the other day and will be getting Dead Space 2 shortly

At a guess, 80% of my sitting in front of a telly gaming is new/newish stuff, and the rest on retro - conversely, handheld retro gaming, via 'special' PSP and the various retro releases on PSN for my non-special PSP accounts (along with tons of NGPC and WS stuff) for about, ooh, 100% of my handheld time (apart from nailing Prof. Layton's latest adventure in about 2 days on't DS).

its a no for me as sadly I havent vetured into the next gen world.. A PS3 is high on my wish list atm though.. and when that day comes it will be bought in tandem with SSFIV, Arcade stick, GT5 & COD:BlackOps.. so even when that does happen i'll still be buying games that have been out for a while.

The only newish stuff I have is a 360 and a DS. I play a fair bit on my 360, but some of that would be retro too, as I play retro XBLA games a fair bit.

I do feel a tad guilty about buying used games, as I'm aware that it's not good for the developer. But then I'm reminded that it's usually the publisher that milks the sale of new games, anyway. And I play games so often, and I like to try so many different types, that I simply couldn't afford to fund the hobby, nor would I have time to play my back catalogue if I kept on supplementing it with new releases.

To the original question yes I play new releases far more than retro, picked up Mass Effect 2 yesterday on ps3, I go through phases between 360,ps3 and retro, being fourty I have been there and done it in gaming terms but retro is my passion. I find myself reading about retro far more than actually playing it these days tho, Retro Gamer Magazine is a god send for the older gamer like me who has very limited gaming time.

yeah I play new releases.. rarely ever on the release tho
for instance i'm now working my way through Metal Gear Solid 4.. a new release but allready a few years old :p

the last games that i played after release were Heavy Rain and God of War 3
