Up to 53 games now...I need to get into collecting these seriously again.

Most of those game zone review are terrible.

4/5, a solid blaster etc.

What? 4/5 for a solid game? Most of those read so badly, shows how bad some of the gaming press was back then.

Agreed. In fact, in a later issue Jonathan Nash went through the previous reviews and corrected the scores - mostly downwards. The mag itself was very well written (IMO), but I think they got caught up in the hype around the SNES at the time. I suppose early on you get blinded by the amazing graphics and give everything a high score, but after the console has been around for a while and the novelty wears off, you look back and realise the gameplay wasn't really there to back up the score.

Having said that, Contra 3 deserves a much higher score than 4/5! As does Super Castlevania.

Nah, much as I like Contra 3 those top-down levels are definately worth at least one minus point!

Not so much the scores that are shocking, more the fact the text doesn't match the damn rating!!!

I would defo give Contra a 4/5

As much as this is not the best version of the game I had to get it back as I had it before.

ha I had Alpha 2 on SNES back in the day. Last copy in Game it was. INSTANT RESPECT in school. We use to sneak out and go to a nearby mate's house for dinner time sessions then sneak back in.
Pretty sure the only reason I was invited was my MEGA RARE copy of SNES Alpha 2.....

No, it's his prayer bead necklace.

Awesome, awesome cover for a game though. I've always loved that picture :)

I got a copy of Mr Nutz through ebay.

I love what little I've played of it so far. Nice graphics, great animation and a decent difficulty curve.

I have an important Super Nintendo question! (not really!)

Does anyone know if a PAL version of Doom on the SNES works on an NTSC machine via a convertor?

Although, Sakura does look oddly badass in the background.

So today I decided to dust off my Super Wild Card. Out of the blue I remember reading somewhere that you can hook a SWC up to your PC via the parallel port. As it turns out, I had exactly the right parallel cable and decided to give it a go.

I googled it and discovered uCON64. Getting it up and running was fairly straightforward, but then I ran into a massive problem - I had Windows 7 64-bit and uCON uses this 32-bit driver to access the parallel port, ugh.

Anyway, to cut a long story short I can now send ROM files from my PC to my SNES! It only takes a second or two and it beats the hell out of copying them over on multiple floppies.

Going to make it my mission to acquire two SNES games I've been after for a ages this year, isn't going to be cheap but what the hell:

Run saber - PAL

Demon's Crest/Blazeon - NTSC/JAP

I can bump this thread everyday if you like  :D

Took me ages to find this one ,

Been selling off my ntsc stuff recently to fund my pal collection. Minty pal games are getting more expensive and harder and harder to find as each day passes but that's half the fun of collecting isn't it?! :D

Never got on with Run Saber but Demons Crest is one of my favs :)
