Any excuse to mention my CIB Streets of Rage 3 for a fiver - shame I have since lost the case and manual.

Think the increase in pricing has a few contributing factors, including:

The lack of retro in the high street chains.
The increase of postal charges.
Lazy ill-informed research of prices.
The attitude of "it's old - it must be worth loads".

HAHA that reminds me of an episode of the Game Chasers. This stall at a flea market had ET on Atari priced higher than some uncommon SNES/Megadrive games because it was older.

Pricing is the main reason gaps like Streets of Rage 3 persist to show in my collection. It's frustrating because I want to get all of the high quality games I care about as a priority before trying to then "catch 'em all". Surprised at how a high a price Adventures of Batman & Robin can command.

Ebay can be very pricey - but sometimes you can still grab a bargain .

The usual buy it nows are way over priced - some guy has flicky @ £70 , maui mallard @ £50 and even common games such as world of illusion @ £20 etc , i see them constantly relisted week after week.

But on the flip side - i picked up a mint condition forgotten worlds for £5 .

some ebay stores i use for pc engine/super famicom/saturn/neogeo/n64 and megadrive imports

i recommend the following for reasonably (fixed) priced imports used the shop loads - quick delivery and items generally fit the descriptions very well:
Japanese-retro-video-games

some cheap stuff, some strangely expensive and also fixed price imports. slower delivery but well packaged. sells a lot of hardware too.
Hit-Japan Video Games and Anime

i found this one the other day, haven't used them yet but they have a lot of gear for sale, fixed price again some cheap, some oddly pricey:
Tokyotoyfactory

for real bargains though, this guy does a lot of 1p starting auctions (bought a lot of good cheap stuff from this shop)
Used Video Game Yamatoku-Classic

That's exactly it. I don't know what makes them think it'll sell for the prices they are asking. I never see a completed listing at those prices. I'm tempted to just offer that guy with Batman and Robin $30, cos that's what it's worth. Also I want it :D

as I'm just starting my MD collection, I think I can avoid the frightening priced games for now - but eBay does seem pricey.

What do people reckon is the the most undervalued MD game? (a great playing game that didnt sell well and is cheap to pick up) - that's where my collecting interest lies at the moment

i think comix zone will only increase in value

why are you starting to collect md games? if you dont have a passion for playing them, its a very expensive thing to do (and takes up a lot of space)

There are plenty of very good cheap games out there for the MD. The Mega Games cartridges are a great place to start, several good games on each and dirt cheap.

This. Also Sonic 2 and 3. Sonic and Knuckles is good but can be pricey. Aladdin is dirt cheap (at least last time I checked) and is one of the greatest platformers ever.

As for games that are good but no-one really plays; I would say the second Toejam and Earl game, although that's going up in price now too. I'm glad I got my copy before all that.

Im almost up to a complete set , it kinda grew on me that i was only a few hundred short about 12 months ago , so i pushed on to get the job done lol.

But i have to say , the games i play most are some of the cheapest or ones i bought for my original megadrive back in the early 90's - John Madden 92 , Speedball 2 , Micro Machines 2 , Sonic 2 , James Pond 2 , Streets of rage 2 , Golden Axe etc .

bought aladdin a couple of weeks ago (didn't play it back in the day). it's alright but certainly not one of the best ever.

For it's time the animation was amazing, and gameplay was fantastic. I probably did oversell it a bit with that comment though. I'll blame nostalgia for that one :P
