Runaway solution

Postby CraigGrannell on Thu Jan 12, 2006 3:20 pm

Now, here's one for the hardcore C64 adventurers out there (well, assuming there are some such people on this forum). Did anyone every play the CDU (Commodore Disk User) covermount "Runaway", by Christopher Hester, and actually get anywhere? I could never get out of the first room (all of the doors were locked, and, despite finding keys, I couldn't find any way of getting them open), and I've never been able to find a solution online...

EDIT: if anyone wants to take a crack at it, there are two version on Magyar C64 HQ.

When you say "keys" I take it you have the short key and the large key?
If you have then you should be able to get to the storeroom with the tea chests in it to the west, because that's how far I've got up to now.
All you have to input is "open west door".

Heh, this Runaway game has rebooted my old appetite for adventure games. Might have a go at the Infocom games I never got round to playing. :)

Well, I just loaded it up for the first time in about, ooh, 14 years, and I'm even worse at this game than I used to be. I have a watch, a short key, a locked wardrobe, and no clue as to how the hell to get out of the room. And to think I used to get most of the way through HHGTTG, too...

EDIT: never mind — I finally found the key in the box on the shelves...

EDIT the second: and now I got killed by... a British Rail sandwich. Nice to see the game has instant, unavoidable deaths.

EDIT the third: and now, killed by a fish, in the living room.
