When Nintendo make a normal console again they will probably go bankrupt because MS/Sony already have that side of the market locked out. Nintendo are basically staying alive by innovating, which is why they're unlikely to stop.

A "normal control pad"? You mean a Kempston joystick?

Frankly, if it's not a keyboard I'm not interested. I only play games with Q A O P M keys. Anything else is just fancy bullsh*t.

According to EGDE Magazine Nintendo have had a pre-production 720P regular Wii in their headquarters for years, they've just never bothered to mass-manufacture it. It's pretty much a forgone conclusion that Wii U will be 720P at least.

1080P will be standard, I'm sure. Even the £15 Raspberri Pi outputs at 1080P!

So.

280 quid?

Not the impulse purchase price the original Wii was. (Assuming that's the actual price and not a random guess)

Has there been any word on how much ££ a controller will cost? And does it come with one or two controllers?

I'm 99% sure it will only come with one.

Nintendo said that second Wii-U Pad support won't be implemented straight away anyway, so I wouldn't bother picking up a second contoroller at launch. Best to wait until games come out that actually support it. For multiplayer you can probably use the Wii-U Classic Controller and your Wii controllers.

Yeah if they could keep the collective price of the console and a game under the £300 price barrier I think they'd see a receptive response from the consumer.

It wont sell as much as the Wii....one reason, 3/4 of households have Wii Fit!! they won't want to pay £300+ for another board!

They won't have to, thanks the wii backwards comparability you can use the peripherals as well. They demonstrated this with wii fit u. The only thing consumers would nessacarily want is the wii fit u game, which has more stuff and mini games. Although you are right. I doubt very much that people will buy the wii u as an exercise machine like they did the wii because they don't need to.

Whatever price they choose it'll be slashed for Xmas. It always is!
Regardless, I'll buy it once it hits about one and a half. No more.

I have so many games this gen to play (let alone all the others!) that I'm in zero rush whatsoever to buy one. It's not as if the Wii U will have some awesomely different game featuring radically new gameplay. It'll have Mario. And Zelda. And Pokemon. :P

Hopefully nintendo have lots of games up their sleeves for launch or near after, i hope so at least, not interested in Pikmin 3 and there seem to be no third party exclusives for now. Wait and see I guess, i'm a lot less excited now though.

True.

I assume by using the word "innovating" what you actually mean is 'largely adapting the ideas and technologies of others'.
