At £30+ a pop, I really think long and hard before buying one.

The Vita doesn't interest me in the slightest. To me, there is nothing new. It's an amped up PSP, it will feature the same games I can play on my home consoles, where I do most of my portable gaming. I have virtually no interest in it.

And the name is bloody stupid.

A Nintendo 3DS owner criticising PlayStation Vita for a lack of originality and for it being an 'amped up' version of what preceded it?

Shurely shome mishtake!

Shure, but at least the 3DS has that 3D screen to distinguish it from the last gen. The games may be rehashed, but they're 3D rehashes!

It's like when that 3D Star Wars comes out. I'll still go see it, even though I've seen Star Wars loads of times, because it's in THREEEEDEEEEE.

(at this point I would just like to say that not even I know if I'm being sarcastic or not)

How dare you compare Star Wars to Nintendo's piece of tat! :x

Unless you're implying 3DS is the Jar Jar Binks of handheld consoles!

Pity as the PSP grew into a machine with a great library of games. And the batterly life is probably better than the 3ds!

Yeah, looking at how good (and cheap!) the games are now, I really regret selling my PSP!

Is any machine worth buying new these days? Isn't it best to wait until developers know how to make a decent game, when prices have come down, when bugs have been ironed out. Okay, it might not be best for the games companies.....

I'll likely do what I did last time; get a 3DS to play with my friends who have 3DS consoles too.
When the price falls on the Vita to around £60, £70 I'll buy it to play into the next gen (like I have the PSP) with the games really really cheap.

Sorted!
EDIT: Also Pokémon.

Given that the PSP hasn't even fallen that low yet, you could be in for quite a wait.

I'm assuming after keeping an eye on this thread that I'm the only person on here who actually likes both Vita and 3DS ( I have an iPad also.) I'm playing handheld devices at the moment more than ever which is weird as I've never been that into them.

Think it's my girlfriend watching I'm a celebrity that's forced a change. Looking forward to Vita.

i am indifferent towards both
the 3ds 3d effect gives me a splitting headache moments after looking at it and turning the 3d effect off means its just a souped up ds so il pass for that and stick with the ds

and the psp gives me motion sickeness 15 minutes in and i dont plan to spend 300 to find out if the vita does that too though i am pretty sure it does after all its a upgraded psp so for both systems i am out due to physical problems
they both actually make me sick
hey wait ! i got a new complaint !

Hell no.Wait for the hardware revision (look at 360, HDMI out added, bigger HDD, better chipsets, less chance of 3 Red Rings or PSP:Better screen, more battery life, more on board memory) and by then bigger range of games, more bargains.

I don't either are going to be a success long term at all.

With the advent of Android and the iPhone there really isn't much need to own a handheld these days. If you want to play retro like me then you can just get something like a Dingoo.

I can see the DS line outlasting both as its still selling really well as a kids console.

Its funny you say that Jagfest - I hear a lot about gaming on phones - I've yet to play a good one on the andriod - there are good puzzle games that pass a few minutes, but nothing as immersive as you'd see on a ds or a PSP - although I accept casual gamers are probably happy with that?

I agree re the DS - its been well marketed - appealing to Grannies looking for presents and being branded "toy like" - it will be with us for a while yet, in different forms I'm sure.

Don't get me wrong slacey I think gaming on phones is terrible, touch screens are just not suited to arcade games, but it seems that the majority of people these days disagree with me.

The only think I use my phone for is calling, texting and facebook. I don't even think I have a single game on it. If I want to take a portable gaming device anywhere with me then my Dingoo fits very nicely in even the smallest pocket.
