I always send everything recorded now. One thing I've noticed with eBay is that you appear to have no rights as a seller, with all the focus being put on the prospective buyer.

Absolutely, total focus on the buyers right to rip the seller off.

I get moaned at for my recorded / airsure only stance. I remind people its to safeguard MY money , not them.It limits my international customers but so be it. without viable alternatives you have to use what exists.

Recently sold an item - customer contacted me to arrange collection and to pay on collection .He then didnt reply to any emails or contact.

Started unpaid item dispute and immediately he responds 'to arrange collection'. He has now started an 'item not received' dispute against me.

Am really hoping Ebay find in his favour as I need a damn good argument with someone. Just don't know how or why a non paying buyer is allowed to even start a dispute at all.

True, I've starting selling some stuff on eBay and I will only send my items with traceable shipping, so I can prove my fair behaviour as seller if needed.

In the past I opened a couple of disputes (a "new" copy of GTA IV for X360 that was sent to me full of scratches, and an item never dispatched) and I won both times and was refunded, but now I asked myself about "being on the other side"... eBay mainly safeguards the rights of the buyer, the seller has to fend for himself. Better be able to prove everything.

The thing is, you can't prove everything.
Yes, you can get proof of postage but like a previous poster said, if
the buyer says it's not as described then they'll be refunded.

Selling a sealed game only for the buyer to keep it and send an old one back and be refunded!!

This really does suck. Pretty much everything, especially if not new and sealed, can be claimed as "not as described". I always take a photo of the item(s) before packing it, it's obviously not enough, but it's probably pretty much everything the seller can do.

I get why about Brazil and Africa (I think) but why Italy?

It has a terrible postal service apparently, I have never had a problem though.

Sadly true, even if I personally never had any problems myself, and postal service is far from being the worst functioning service here...

I had a strange sale recently, I sold Mario Kart on the gamecube. Buyer contacted me when they received it and told me they were having trouble getting it to work (they also said there was a cobweb inside which i do not recall but possible)

I replied with 20 mins suggesting some things to try but to let me know if they had no luck and i would sort them out. I was going to just tell them to bin it and i would refund them.

They responded again that night but it was quite late and the next day was my wedding anniversary. so i didnt get a chance to respond. Next thing i know, because i hadnt answered second email in 30 hours, they opened a case against me saying item is not as advertised and i was unresponsive to emails.

I have 850 positives an no negatives so why they thought I had spent all these years building up a good rep just to sting them for £7!

I was so annoyed i just followed their lead and agreed to refund once i had item back (which i originally wasnt bothered about). They said they sent it but i never got it back. Then i got an email from ebay saying that the case was closed and ebay themselves had refunded them. Not exactly sure why or what happened but very unlike them!

This happened to me once. I didn't reply to a message within less than 24 hours or something so the buyer decided that opening a case was a fair solution  . I check my messages regularly but I'm not plugged into ebay 24/7 FFS

I'm rather glad that eBay is so buyer-friendly as some git has just sold me a fake game.

It's good to have the certainty of getting a total refund these days, as they'd probably have just closed their PayPal account and swanned off a few years back.

I put a game up for Buy it Now. someone bought it, then 30 minutes later messages me to ssay they didnt want it.. not even a hint of 'sorry' just "refund me please I don't want it'

I said ok but he must cancel it so I get fees back and he can leave me good feedback for doing it.

He cancelled but left me no feedback, and I don't even have an option of leaving feedback now the transaction is cancelled.. But even if he hadn't sellers cant leave neg feedback so buyers dont care.

Also I sold 5 items, and sent them all recorded apart from one which was more expensive so sent regular post.. guess which one I am now being messaged about not turning up (this is 3 weeks later),

This is why I don't much on ebay anymore. But noone ever buys stuff on forums so I don't know where else to sell stuff.
