XBLA, PSN? It's an effing joke. If you want decent independent titles, the PC is the only way to go. Far, far bigger variety, tons of remakes, tons of retro inspired games. All far cheaper than the console rip-offs (lke...free).
But still, why would I want that? If I want to play old games (I do) I'll play the original thing created by skillful designers: Not cheap knock-offs from untalented developers with no innovation bone in their bodies.
What I want from indy developers is to boldly go where no man has gone before (sorry), not crappy knock-offs of old ideas.
Seriously, XBLA? Would I spend my time playing crappy twin stick shooters, or would I play the original games, like Robotron, created by truly talented developers like Eugene Jarvis? Hmmm...

But- The newest hardware that really excites me more than I have been gamewise for a while...is the game gadget. I don't know a hellova lot about it, but love the idea/concept behind it. I can't wait to see whats available for it, love to see a game list of upcoming titles

Looked up this gadget thing..... hadnt heard of this much before. Now I'm interested.... though I wonder just how it'll do. All up to the selection of games for it, which is the one thing not at all mentioned on their main page; seems a little odd since the thing apparantly comes out in 9 days.

I have played SF4 , MW3 and Black ops as well as a few others and apart from SF4 the rest just didnt inspire me or make me want them.
Add to this the next phase of consoles heading our way , do I really need to invest in something that simply put won't give me what I want from playing games?
For now I am happy enjoying retro in the forms I have and feel no need to go any further. Constant streams of games by numbers/updates and overblown franchises are not my bag baby , the retro / indie content is nothing I can't live without (although Scott Pilgrim really does look like a laugh - damn you PSN for not having a PSP version) and I'd rather buy a sh#t load of (or a load of sh#t) games for the consoles I do have an interest in.
Feel very old school now.

I have yet to play any touch screen games apart from Bejeweled that I liked.
Maybe it's all these years of having a controller and buttons etc, but try as i might, i just cannot get on with either motion control or touch screen gaming, even when carefully implemented, rather than tacked on to a port.
Matt_B wrote:For what it's worth the original Bejeweled was a PC game you played with a mouse. It's adapted incredibly well to touch screens, but it's not a game that was designed around them. It's also old enough (2001) to count as retro, which will no doubt please Jagfest.

So what if the PC has a bigger variety, that does not mean XBLA is not worthy of investigating. you mention cheap knockoffs and remakes yet the PC indie scene is also full of them.
You complain that you want the original games not ripoffs and you want innovation, then praise the " Remakes and retro inspired " on the PC. Which is it to be. Are not remakes and retro inspired just another way of saying ripoffs and where is the innovation in doing remakes.
Me, I am quite happy with things like Castlevania Harmony of Despair, Braid, Darwinia+, Geometry wars, Megaman 9 + 10, Hardcorps uprising, The MAW, Shadow complex, Dishwasher, Garou mark of the wolves, Scott Pilgrim, Splosion man, Comic jumper, super meat boy, Trials HD, Castle Crashers, Deathspank, Torchlight, + many many more
I dont really understand why you felt the need to turn this into a competition, surely the fact that there are several ways of playing these styles of games are a good thing.
