Absolutely, and I also want to abide by the OP's opening wish that,

Personally I don't feel PS3 or 360 games are anywhere near as good as most should be. Gears is deriative, as is CoD. Assassins Creed is limited, Fable never delivered.

For me, this generation has been a massive letdown. The games just don't feel they have advanced at all, in fact we have often got more bugs, lower frame rates and no more interaction. Obviously this doesn't cover every title but for a lot of games that shouldn't interest me, they just don't.

I chose the Wii because it came with little expectation when I got it, I didn't expect it to last for long but I have ended up having so much fun with it. Not my fav console ever but more fun than anything else this gen for me.

@DreamcastRIP

I personally don't see any fanboy comments, just people stating their preference. Nothing wrong in that.

I guess it's down to interpretation as I most certainly do see such comments. No point in harping on about it though. Here's hoping everyone can stay true to the spirit of the thread's desire to say they enjoyed console 'x' due to whatever reasons rather than also using the opportunity to take swipes at the other two consoles... unless said in clear good humour of course. :D

To be honest I was hoping I might be in a position to say the Wii was my favourite console of this generation but it didn't work out like that. That's not to say that there weren't plenty of games other people enjoyed on the Wii but I guess they didn't appeal to me.

Definitely the Wii for me.

Own both the Wii and 360 and the Wii gets a hell of a lot more game play than the 360. Aside from the usual Mario/Zelda/Metroid etc I've found some great and fun games that I can play solo and/or with the O/H and friends.

Guess it's the Wii cause I enjoyed it more (since day one release), but been playing the PS3 for the last three months (since I got it) getting into the games and I must say there are some awesome games on it .

in the end, nothing beats New Super Mario and Donkey Kong returns, I'd buy any nintendo console just for those type of games

Xbox360. The PS3 seems ok and certainly got better as the years have gone on, they just made a right mess of it at the beginning. The wii has a few decent games but was a huge let down, crappy graphics and controls on too many games. Not a great generation but some great games.

Xbox 360.

Now watch Microsoft piss all that goodwill away with the Xbox 720...

XBox360 for me too, largely by default, and I sold it 6 months ago and have never missed it.
My parents, who were never into games, really took to their Wii.

That's totally fair enough. Some of the Wii's best games (I'm thinking of the likes of No More Heroes and Madworld, here) have been... acquired tastes. I've certainly had no problem acquiring a taste for both games but I can understand why some people may not have. In fairness, whether you like it or not the Wii has excelled in some areas - it has clearly the best selection of platform games (mainly because with the exception of Nintendo not many developers are making them any more) and the pointer controls have seen it become more or less the de-facto console for conversions of graphic adventures and lightgun games. In it's twilight years it's also picked up a few decent JRPGs and of course the first-party games are as earth-shatteringly brilliant as ever.

If you like racing games and first/third person shooters, which a lot of people here clearly do, then I'm the first to admit it's been deficient in those areas. It's had some decent COD games and a couple of pretty good exclusive FPS's (Red Steel 2 being probably the best) but it's clearly not up with the HD consoles on that score. The only third-person shooter I enjoyed (if you don't count Other M) was the underrated Rogue Trooper but while it was a lot of fun that wasn't in the same league as GOW. For racing game fans, F1 2009 is probably the only serious racer worth picking up, and then only if you see it cheap.

So the Wii has clearly been a love-it-or-loathe-it affair from day one. It's excelled in some niche genres and underperformed in some key ones, which is probably why six years on some people still don't quite know what to make of it. But I've loved it from the moment I first pulled it out of the box and I still do. I think it's given me some truly unique gaming experiences which the PS3/360, as good as they undoubtedly are, don't offer.

Wii games that have heavy use of the Wiimote and Nunchuck and wouldn't be better with real controllers? Sin and Punishment 2

I haven't played the second one but the first game played just fine with a n64 controller so I'm not sure why a wiimote would be better unless it's a drastically different type game.

I will have to go for the 360.

Started off this generation with the Wii, very nice console and enjoyed all the Mario, Metroid and other titles you would expect to find on a Nintendo console, but my favorites were certainly the light gun games, HOTD, Ghost Squad, Ghost Recon....all brilliant and rejuvenated through the control system.

Picked up the 360 a few years after launch and once the whole RROD thing quietened down, been my main system and put loads of hours into the Fifa games, Fable, Battlefield, Mass Effect....just been a good all rounder each year.

Never really felt the need to buy a PS3, got a PSP and now own a PS Vita, and I get the feeling any system exclusives that I did miss will be making there way onto the Vita.

If I had to decide now, what I would get in the next generation, it would have to be the xbox 720, after seeing what is happening with Windows 8 and the next Windows Phone, the new xbox will be the next evolution in digital content........good or bad, it will be interesting.

It's a shame playing with a wiimote in no way feels like playing a lightgun game with a gun. And it has nothing to do with the feel of the thing, it just isn't the same due to the nature of the thing.
