No official announcement regarding the website downtime either, which would have been nice considering it's their only form of communIcation with customers.

Such a thing hasn't held the 3DS back so maybe there's still hope yet for the gg.

All legit or were there [/cough] extras?

Yep, as previously voiced by myself and others, it'll be interesting to hear the answer to that question.

O ye of little faith! I'm absolutely positive the update will arrive 'any day soon'.

Perhaps they ought to give the gg forum a new name more in keeping with its brand identity?
I'm thinking something zingy such as Mañana...

Just read the rather scathing review in Gamestm, for anyone who has not seen it, I particularly liked the amusing timeline they put at the bottom of the piece, with the title 'To be this bad takes...about six months' before listing the various broken promises and missed deadlines, in chronological order, my personal favourite being the Lord Sugar tweet, to which they state 'Lord Sugar does not reply'

As for the machine itself it apparently has a small, poor quality screen, and awful sound and feels cheap and nasty, with old fashioned, spongy buttons.

Good mention of Lemonjellydude's treatment by Xploderadmin, and their own experience of trying to get the machine working properly, including having to reset the machine numerous times, because most games do not support the escape to menu function, their machine also would not boot properly until they unplugged the headphones, which had to be in the machine in the first place to turn it on!

On the contents page they state 'Games tm review what could be one of the worst console launches in history...you have been warned.

Excellent review, very well written.

Appreciate that, it'll be a few weeks before it hits shores here. Pleased that they agree with us this has been close to worst hardware launch if not the worst. I would be very interested if the company(s) behind the fiasco are going to right of reply to some of the reviews coming out, or just keep going silently behind the scenes, occasionally popping up with a post whinging about their customers or their publishers/developers...

I look forward very much to reading the GameGadget review in GamesTM next time I'm in WHSmith... or maybe in the next issue of RG if it makes it in time. :D

I wonder if the GameGadget website will now be updated to reflect GamesTM new view!! Afterall, they are credited on the GG website with the quote 'The iTunes of RetroGaming' which is a bit embarrassing to the magazine considering how things have unfolded :!:

Apologies, I have to hold my hands up here, I have read it again, and it had the headphone issue at launch, where they had to be in the machine for it to turn on, they have fixed this, but it has been replaced by a new one, which means if the console is booted with headphones attached, the reset function gets stuck in a loop, it won't start up fully until they are unplugged, at least on their review unit.

They also hated the fact that the only way to adjust the volume is in the settings menu, and the games have varying volume levels, so they had to take several guesses and several resets to get the volume in any chosen game to the level they wanted, oh dear.
