DreamCast

Postby Babbage on Mon Apr 16, 2012 1:41 pm

Hello.

Hope it's OK starting up a thread so soon after joining, but I can't see an active Dreamcast threads at the moment and I am a huge fan of Sega's console (it's the only retro hardware I currently own).

As it had such a short life I know it doesn't have the huge library of some of the other consoles, but the games I've experienced were some of the best gaming experiences I've had. I'm just beginning my collecting really, but it would great to know if there are any other fans on here.

I recently bought Blue Stinger, so that's what I'll be playing next

I think there's several fans of Sega's last console here. I'm certainly one, finished the PAL set a couple of months back, picking up imports at the moment.

Great console, and if you dip your toes into both the imports and the homebrew stuff, there's an absolute ton of quality stuff to play (and collect).

Currently playing Ooga Booga and MSR, the latter an all time fave, the first a good little game thats aged well.

By Club Paris, you mean "Am I Only Dreaming". Also "I Can Still Believe";

MEMORIES!!!! I remember she was credited as 'Helena Davidson' for this song - I think she sang all the female vocals?

*sigh*. Never mind.

Edit: Actually, I just re-read what you posted. I actually feel a bit sorry for you - one of the funniest, most diverse and interesting soundtracks on the Dreamcast and you listen to one mediocre Robert Miles-clone on repeat? I mean, 'Club Paris' is a fair parody of that style of 90's elecronica/dance music but it doesn't stand on its own like several of the others, especially 'I Can Still Believe'..

I have one song, and one song only on repeat when I'm playing MSR.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbUjxEwkEog

It's not as if I really like it that much. It's just become a bit of a tradition.

music aside - MSR is one of my favourites on DC - and it was pretty cheap to buy it back when I started to re-build my collection, which was a bonus.

MSR was fun what I played of it.

I'd still pick up a copy of PSO v2, Shenmue, Shenmue 2, Power Stone, Soul Calibur, Sega Bass Fishing, Space Channel 5, Chu Chu Rocket, Jet Set Radio and erm that's all I can think of right now - pick them all up, they're all worthy of anyone's collection!
