If you are going for cameos you may want to be sure before starting that route. There are quite a few I know of that will be cheap enough but some maybe not quite so easy.

The Sonic lure is unlockable in Sega Bass Fishing
Gashapon figures in Shenmue / Shenmue 2
The already mentioned Soleil beach scene

Just confirmed a couple more after part remembering seeing him

Ultimate soccer - appears on some of the selection icons in the game
Ayrton Senna SMGP2 - sonic zooms around whilst choosing rival

There are a lot of others Im sure - vaguely remember hearing that he appears as an ornament in the display of a car in an arcade race game but not sure on that. Also fairly sure ive seen him on some of the sports games as background posters etc.

Where do you draw the line? If he does appear in an arcade game thats quite a length to go to for a cameo.

Nice collection either way - bear in mind the really nice japanese GC Gems collection as it has different unlockable games to the UK/USA releases.

Are you thinking of the toy Sonic that dangles in the cab of 18 Wheeler?

Sonic first appeared in Rad Mobile as a ornament which hung from a rear view mirror :)

His shoes appear in donkey kong country 2

which is quite amusing

Yeah the whole cameo thing isn't a definite. I may only go for games he's actually playable in like Virtua Striker 3.

Put it this way I won't be going for arcade machines, although I wouldn't say no to a Sonic the Fighters/SegaSonic the Hedgehog arcade machine if anyone's donating. ;)

Haha yeah there's definitely some good ones there. :)

However the cost of some of these games is why I'm ruling out getting every game he's cameoed in. The Game Gear 4 in 1 pack is worth some serious dosh complete for example.

I just remembered another cameo - Bug! on the Saturn had a bonus stage where you "raced" Sonic (in his Sonic 3 incarnation I believe) I have a copy but my Saturn doesn't work so can't be anymore specific!

Here we go - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ilbcb3mrLf8

BUUUUG JUUIIICCEE!!

This list here on Sonic Retro has a nice compilation of Sonic cameo's.

Many will know I don't tend to go for these complete collection of most things, I don't see the point in a lot of rubbish games. However I have to say I really like things like this. Sonic is clearly something you love and getting all of the games is a nice hobby to have. Same with Shadowman and his Mega Man collection and a friend spent last summer hoovering up Resident Evil stuff.

Nice lot. And those Game Gear games look great. :D

I would err on the side of Rad Mobile being the one I heard of as I would say it was about mid 90's i heard that he was hanging around in a racing game.

That link to the site of cameos makes for great reading - including the fact that Rad Mobile was around BEFORE sonic was released. I do enjoy random game related factoids like that.

A bit of poking about online reveals that the steelbook may have been another Australian job.

(taken from sonicstadium.org)
In other news, SSMB member Woun has found a Steelbook version of both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the Sonic Generations Limited Edition at Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi for $109 AU. The retailer ships internationally.

Looks like it had some DLC with it too. There's a stock image on the site if you scroll down through the article:

Very nice Random Hero, very nice indeed! I'm no sonic fan, but i can appreciate what you've put together there. :D

There's also a list of Sonic cameos here too:
