I would have said until last year that I was more addicted to buying than I was to playing but now it's the other way round as I want to actually play all of the stuff that I own.

Saying that, I'm not addicted to either anymore. Gaming is my main hobby/passion but I don't spend hours playing as I also like to do other stuff away from gaming. This week I'm off so I've been playing an hour or two in the morning when the O/H has been at work but overall I probably play roughly an hour of DS on a weekday on the bus and probably about three-four hours a week on the home consoles.
Buy my stuff here.

I dont play half as much as I used to, say around 4 -5 hours a week (when I was a kid used to be loads more) - I now tend to play what I have rather than buy anything more, I seem to be come addicted to selling stuff as well!

It's still my favourite hobby, but it does not take up so much of my time (and money) now than a few years ago.

You read about those nutters who die at their keyboard while playing mammoth 70+hr gaming sessions, or those whose kids starve to death while they're stuck in some MMORPG fantasy world make-believe.....

Suddenly playing Bejewelled 3 at 4 in the morning because you can't sleep isn't so much of a worry! :?

I love gaming, love portable gaming. But also think the best thing is to have a mix of everything, socialise, have friends, do exercise and do gaming.

Just have visions though of albino blokes in their bedrooms never leaving their house for days on end and not socialising, that isnt good at all.

If i'm not at work, and not with the missus or visiting friends, I'm playing video games at all times. I read when I take the tube to work. I watch telly and films with the missus. Every minute of my own, is gaming...

Addicted? No...I don't have to game, I can turn it off and walk off at any time if needs be.

Yeah I spent alot of time playing games when I was younger. Too much, really, and it was my only hobby for a very long time. I wasn't even playing with friends for like 80% of the time. I consider such indulgence a bad habit nowadays and make an effort to cultivate other interests, such as cycling and (car)drifting - though that one has been a total money pit this past 2 years lol.

I'm also moving back-out of the sticks, tomorrow as it happens, and hope to resurrect my totally dead social life.

I'm another one who grew up in the sticks, and still spend a lot of the time there, so yeah...you could be onto something with the lack of things to do feeding a gaming habit!

It's no more damaging than sitting watching DVD boxsets though, and no sadder than collecting anything else, so I agree with that too....

Basically, so long as you're not doing too much harm to yourself, still trying to do other things too and still remembering to eat, sleep, exercise and if you can, socialise...then I don't see it as any worse than any other hobby....

Lol, I'm into martial arts and art (painting etc) in general so if I spend too much time playing a game my built in guilt makes me stop...but I'd have to say game books and internet forums (like this one) are more of an addiction. These are the perfect procrastinators- knowing you need to be doing something but you'll 'just pop on the forum for a bit and see what's happening' ...and an hour or two whizzes by before you know it...

As a consequence I never have enough time to devote to any one thing and so most everything in my life feels somewhat unfulfilled.

Life's too short.

I'm exactly the same, I'm usually annoyed with myself for not fitting enough into a day, and as I mentioned previous, sitting on the net is probably a bigger addiction than gaming. And has more people in it's grip than just traditional gamers. How often are you having smoko at work, or going out to dinner with a few people and everyone whips their smart phones out and ignores everyone around the table...? :?
