You just reminded me. I used to play Freelancer with Pink Floyd's Meddle album in the background. It was amazing how much it added to the experience.

Again, as a C64 owner I usually just kept the in-game sound on. But when I played The Bard's Tale, I'd play my Yngwie Malmsteen albums, especially Trilogy and Rising Force.

Always had the game's sound on, regardless of the game. Even annoying ones, I just put up with them....

Not really into music. Point out any song or band or whatever, doesnt matter what, and I'll not know what it is.

SNES Rock N' Roll Racing had licensed tracks in I think. I'm sure I heard a Black Sabbath instrumental!

Also "Bad to the Bone" but maybe that's because the movie Terminator 2 had been out a couple years and it seemed every game under the sun was using it! :P

The problem with owning a speccy 48k was it wasn't too mind blowing in the soundtrack department. I had to rely on music to keep my adrenaline up when playing games. I remember playing Jean Michel Jarre alot. Equinoxe when playing Space Harrier, Rendezvous when playing Green Beret. Games like Rollercoaster, Fairlight, Dynamite Dan, Wriggler, Marsport and Starquake were played to mostly a mix of ZZTop's Eliminator, Inxs Listen Like Thieves and The Stranglers Dreamtime. Then I got a Speccy +2 and then an Amiga, PC which made listening to commercial music redundant.

In 1997 when I was playing Kung fu master on Mame they hadn't fixed the tune playing so I played John Barry's Game Of Death soundtrack which was rather fitting I thought!
