A completely shameless God of War rip-off but a lot of fun with some lovely gruesome graphics & a fun warped storyline.

A bit too much violence & nuddieness for playing on public transport though!

Its an amazing game,

But seriously, Just because its a hack n slash with a level up system, its a 'shameless' God of War ripoff?.

People thought that way with Conan as well, and ruined what could have been a great game by those words alone 'god of war ripoff'

Why do people allow themselves to think this way, and have these already preconceived opinions about a game they have yet to play. Im not talking about you the_hawk, just saying alot of people probably didnt play Dantes Inferno because of this 'god of war ripoff' preconceptions, and ruined what could have been a great trilogy.

Dantes Inferno is a a great game, another hack n slash game, but a great one at that. Does not need to be compared to God of War at all. A separate, intriguing story, a great character with great development, and great level design and bosses, all of which had thought and imagination put into.

IMO, Dantes Inferno is better than God of War in many ways.

Completely agree with that. I bought it at launch for Xbox 360 and had loads of fun with it from beginning to end. Yet every time I mentioned it to most people, all I got was 'Oh, that's that God Of War rip off, isn't it?' :|

Their loss.

Definately. You could probably use the quote in my sig for this case as well.

I went back to Tekken 6 tonight as a result of playing Tekken characters in SFxT. I wanted to see how they have been changed to fit in the SF engine..... Quite a lot it turns out.

Still had great fun getting back into it and easily found some players to fight online. It's also made me more excited for Tekken Tag 2 in Spetember!

I've still to finish this....I do reckon it was probably inspired by God of War, but to call it a rip off is like calling every first-person shooter released since Doom a rip off of that.....

I stopped playing Dante's Inferno after getting stuck at an Optical Illusion/Escher-type puzzle with weird angles and doors...should probably give it another bash actually!

Strider and Spiderman for the Mega Drive. I'm stuck on the final level on Strider, the bit where Solo shows up again, I just can't land any hits on him. As for Spidey, I still can't clear the final level of that without using an emulator!

I also started SW Force Unleashed but fear I've already seen the best the game has to offer. The first level with Vader was excellent, swatting enemies aside like flies while tearing the environment apart - it all looked really impressive. The next two levels have been (in my opinion) overly long, boring levels hampered by simplistic combat, dodgy targetting systems (my force grab doesnt respond half the time even when my force bar is full). Quite disapointing.

That pretty much sums up the whole game. That targeting system, in particular, makes some of the boss fights a pain in the ass.

Mindjack on 360. It got terrible reviews but I wanted to give it a go. So far it's really fun, hacking into someone elses game is brilliant. Will have to play some more, but so far it seems like a classic example of reviewers marking down an average game which will sell in low numbers regardless, to make themselves look tough and respectible, before adding a point or two onto reviews for big budget games from publishers that give them advertising money.

Yeah, number 2 doesnt get any better either if you ask me. Both these games drive me nuts, my son loves them but gets stuck on them quite a bit. And proceeds to nag the life out of me to help him out. I didnt mind them half as much until he discovered them

Near the very end of Brütal Legend now, and bar the slightly fudgy RTS-lite bits and the lack of a jump ability, have found it to be completely dripping in lushness and ripe with atmosphere, in fact it's even made me sort of like and admire the music and culture of metal(!) It's sort of 'open world' but the world is absolutely brimming with creativity, never boring, brilliantly varied, and is neither too large to be tedious nor too small to feel underwhelming and limited (it reminds me of Gun in this respect) and it's obvious a whole lot of love was put into this. They just took imagery from various metal LPs and made the graphics out of it and it completely works. It's lovely to behold.

Also think the pre-game startup screens are genius, using a gatefold LP sleeve was inspired.

Devil May Cry and Headhunter on PS2. I love the Dreamcast but couldnt get a grip on Headhunters controls on that. Feels so different on Playstation.

It seems I have pretty much the whole game mapped out in my head from playing it loads as a kid, I know where all the powerups are, best ways to beat the bosses etc. but the penultimate level still causes me hassle and its the Kingpin that still bests me! You have to smack him on the head just right else he takes no damage. Plus you only have one shot at beating him or its instant game over with no continues :(

Yep. Just cleared the game and damn that star destroyer/tie fighter bit at the end makes me hate the targetting all the more. Not impressed with the last boss either as it was a glitchy mess where I got caught on more than one occaision and pretty much died instantly . A good idea badly executed.
