Both are great, but Real Bout Fatal Fury Special is about five times better than its predecessor. Possibly the most fun, and gorgeous looking beat 'em up on the 'Geo in my opinion.

I'm probably in the minority that prefers Real Bout Special to Garou. I just prefer the cast of characters for Special, all my favourite FF characters in one game with nice large sprites, a great soundtrack and hidden Geese boss fight

The Real Bout sub-series is much different to Garou.... I genuinely don't know which I prefer in all honesty. What I do know is the Real Bout games are awfully underrated. The graphics in Special in particular are incredible  Everyone is familer with the early Fatal Fury games, but hardly anyone really gives the Real Bout games the time of day. Superb fun, owing to the accessible combo system and lush graphics.

There are a number of ports of both Special and RB2 - if people haven't tried these out then I'd highly recommend them.

Same here - defo the most enjoyable Cave shooter I have ever played in all honesty. Just a superb title with loads of depth, buckets of fair challenge, and stunning visuals. One of my third favourite shooters of all time.

A few more levels left to do on Mario 3D Land's secret worlds and it's all done and dusted. I've been meticulously making sure that I don't move on from a level until all of the star coins have been collected too so there will be no back-tracking necessary. I have to say that if people find the original eight worlds to simple and easy, try your hand at the secret ones because some require absolutely precise platforming skills if you want to finish them with all the star coins. I'd racked up a massive amount of spare lives in the original eight worlds but I've lost so many on the secret levels. It's a testament to the game's quality though (as with the Galaxy games and most other Mario games for that matter) that failure always feels like the player's fault, never a problem with the game design itself.

The only issue is that the 3DS battery keeps dying very quickly which makes a nice long session sometimes impossible :(

MW3 on the Wii. Like all the Wii CoD games it's very polished, very slick, looks great and has a decent multiplayer mode. Of course it's full of empty bombast and linear as hell, but hey - as a testamant to how good Wii games can look it's second only to Nintendo's first party output. Only one complaint - the story seems to assume a familiarity with the plot of MW2, but Wii owners didn't get MW2. I'm a couple of hours in and have absolutely no clue what's going on except that Russia appears to be attacking New York. Couldn't the Wii version at least have had a video or even just a text breakdown of the plot of MW2 just so we'd know what is happening?

Warriors Orochi 2 on PSP
these games are a right bugger for sapping all your time.
the amount of content crammed onto a small disc is mental, even a fighting game style thing is in there as a nod to the first dynasty warriors

Been back to Skyrim today. Just cleaning up on Dawnguard, hunting the elusive Legendary Dragon. Has anyone on here got dawnguard? I did a search and you only have a thread when the trailer was released.

Early doors? I though Dawnguard was the bees knees and probably as good as Shivering Isles was for Obliv. Now, having pummeled hours into it including a complete new character build just for it? It's not quite up there with Shivering Isles for me. Must remember tho' that Bethesda DLC does tend to get better as a game goes on and this was the first for Skyrim.

Decided to dust off some of the older games on XBLA that I have:

Braid - the graphics and music are still as beautiful as the day it got released. But, boy, do the puzzles do my nut in!!

Shadow Complex - decided to play through this again after 3 years off of it. Still a fantastic homage to Metroid and Castlevania. 3 achievements left to get, and one requires a third play through. Damnitall :(

Guwange - I do love this, but halfway through the second level, I couldn't be bothered with it. I don't have a scooby doo why, though?
JSW's Guff Emporium! <- My bit of t'internet.

Playing Mario Kart Double Dash and Ikaruga on the Gamecube. Superb games. I am really enjoying playing the GC once again.

Have you finished all the levels with the secret character and hit the top of every flag pole? I certainly haven't yet!

Yep, Zapper compatible. I think I've figured out what it is I dislike about single-player modes in CoD - it's like you're on a rollercoaster. You're funnelled along a narrow path, unable to explore away from it because there are some sandbags blocking your way, and the game convinces you to ignore how repetitive it all is by throwing eye-searing explosions at you every few seconds. It's a Michael Bay movie in game form - great to look at but there's absolutely nothing to it. I don't even know why they bother with it, the online multiplayer is all anyone actually seems to care about.

On my 'school' holidays now and trying to play some games/get some fresh air/do stuff with the kids/plan for new year etc... etc...
First, my son completed the first 10 levels of Angry Birds Space on the iPad, gonna upload a vid of this tomorrow, he's scarily good.

I played:
- Captain Commando on SNES
- Alien vs Predator on SNES
- Lots of Super Tennis on SNES
- Bioshock on PS3 (still can't defeat a 'Big Daddy'), gonna look up some strategies
- Mafia II DLC on 360
- Trying to Gold as many courses as I can on Trials Evolution to get to the final courses
- Beans Quest on the iMac

MW3 was terrible for this, the worst single player shooter ever for me. Are the Wii ones the same?
