i'll name a few in certain genres to get my money's worth out of this top 5:

arcade/adventure: dizzy! great great lastability to these games, and cute cute bouncy graphics ^.^
text adventure: hitchikers guide to the galaxy, so very funny.
arcade: batty! very very addictive and given away free on a covertape i believe ^.^
racer: spy hunter, a great conversion and used the spectrum's resolution well, meaning very little colour clash...
shoot em up: 3d death chase...i mean, i can't believe this was conceived and then programmed on a 48k machine...sheer genius...

that'll do :) x

my god...i had no idea it was that early...in that case, it's above genius! mind you, 3d monster maze worked similar wonders with only monochrome graphics, that must have been an exciting time to be a game developer, nothing had been done yet...x

I always heard Sir Lancelot was the last 16k game ? Great little platformer that was, played it tons in the day and completed it. Still give it a good go today, excellent basic platformer

I just thought of another really cool game actually, kinda wished I'd added it to my Top5:

MINDER!!!

Anyone else remember this one? wheelin' and dealin' all kinds of shady goods, telling people to censored off and getting twatted, lol that was a real class game. Kept me entertained for weeks.

Anyway 5 of my faves:

Bruce Lee
Wriggler
Back 2 Skool
Ghouls & Ghosts
Commando

So many more i could mention....I loved my Speccy :D

Yeah, in many ways it was incredibly innovative, I'm sure there had been business type games before it, but the little details like being able to hire the intimidating Terry as your 'minder' so you could get away with a lot more than just dealing by yourself, having to wait around for the Winchester Pub to open etc, is what made the game for me. Back then, it had a lot of atmosphere and felt incredibly open ended.

For me:

I played the below on a 128K +3

R-Type
Death Chase - Just like the forest chase in Return of the Jedi
Chase HQ
Renegade
Commando

Let's hope one of these gets done for all the other systems and not just the Speccy.
