I think so anyway, I bought it on launch a while back and end up selling it on here. Couldn't get on with it, and has imo nothing on Ketsu/DoDonPachi. Will consider importing again if It's deemed I've made a mistake etc !
Region free, yep! Dont ya wish more games were like that? I know I do.
In my opinion, you REALLY gotta have Black Label for this game to really be at it's best.
if you only have the base version and not the BL DLC, well..... Original 1.5 is fun, but the scoring is dull.... Maniac 1.5 has decent scoring in concept but is way too strict.... fun patterns though..... and Ultra is a total nightmare, and for the hardest of the hardcore players ONLY.
Black Label makes some very important changes: BL Original is a little easier (not by much though), but the scoring system is much improved; the frequency at which you must change shot types is changed, and you get bonus gems by point-blanking things, adding a new layer to an already good mode. It's also more balanced. BL Maniac is very similar to 1.5 maniac, except NOT SUPER IRRITATING. Scoring system is VASTLY improved. Ultra is replaced with God mode, which is my personal favorite and half the reason I just love the hell outta this game. God mode isnt as hard as Ultra.... but then, nothing is.... but, it's still pretty freaking hard. Part of the fun here though is the supreme scoring system. Even my friend that was a total Ketsui fanboy, and always praised that as the best game ever, finally changed his tune upon playing that mode (and BL Maniac) for the first time. The scoring is very similar to BL Maniac, with some slight changes. Frankly, it's my favorite scoring type of all of Cave's games. It's actually very similar in some ways to Ketsui's most excellent arrange mode. Or "X mode" I think they call it, whatever, it's an arrange mode.
Ketsui though, yes, very good, and what a great port it was too. The arrange mode was just icing on an already amazing cake.
DDP:Daifukkatsu though.... holy crap. It's REALLY hard to beat that game, particularly if you also have the Black Label disc as well. There's what.... three arrange modes in total, Arrange A, B, and Ketsupachi on the BL disc... and then 1.5 arcade, and BL arcade.... and ALL of the modes are amazing.
Ketsupachi is a particular treat for fans of both Ketsui and DDP.
Futari has my favorite scoring system, but I'd have to say DDP:DFK is my favorite package overall. Just so much good going on there.
Now if only I could figure out where that confounded Black Label disc went.
