Great score there boson. Looks like we might have a first loop clear soon.

I've switched to the Saturn version and playing in Tate mode. Have to say I'm finding it more difficult than the MAME rom. The bullets seem alot faster.

Made some progress though i suppose, can no bomb, no miss the first 2 stages now, though there's that setcions of 3 planes in Stage 2 which i sometimes have to bomb through. Consistently hitting 2.5 mill runs and dying on the Stage 3 boss. It's not the boss' patterns that screw me over, it's the small enemies single bullets I keep getting caught out by.

I'm not expecting a big score or 1CC this game. Finding it difficult to chain and play for survival.. Time will tell.

Don't be affraid to use bombs in this game. Your bomb stock is refilled after every stage and can increase to a maximum of 7 and there are also a fair few bomb items to collect in stages - you really have a lot to work with. Those three planes in stage 2? I bomb them every time, you get a replacement pretty soon after and bonus waves of enemies for more points. There are point bonuses to be had for not bombing but iirc it doesn't get significant until the later stages or second loop.

Yeah i read that you get more bombs per stage if you actually use them or something like that. I will keep plugging away at it, I could probably increase my score quite significantly if i learn the chain routes/best places to chain... Always attack a game for the clear first though.

I always do that as well.
As soon as you bomb them you might also want to go to the right side of the screen to get one of the 13 bees in the stage.

note: scratch what I wrote about that WAIT option on the PS1 port, it's applicable to Dodonpachi, not Donpachi.

Only played an hour and a half so far, I've cleared the first loop of this in the past but that was over two years ago. I'm aiming for a first loop clear and score over 10 million but don't know if I'll get it in the time we've got, it took me a long time to beat the loop when I was playing it a few years back.

Damn, looks like an early storm is brewing here. I need to get this game learnt. Definitely the toughest game we've had so far imo.

Edit: Just hit 3.5 mill and had a screen cap fail, closed the game and the pic hadnt saved. So annoyed right now.

Well, i'm gunna have some dinner then start recording.

I have a few tips.

Memorise bee locations. (huge for score)
Do not die on your first loop. (adds 3/4 million to your score going into loop 2)
Kill the sideline enemies when facing bosses first. (generally they're the fuckers that kill you on a boss)
Learn how to chain.

The worse thing is I went into stage 5 loop 2 boss with no miss, then I just fucked up completely. forgot to bomb at right time, and just fell apart. Think i could have gone for a 20+ mill if i'd have nailed it. That would have been huge. (my best is 20.6)
