This is my "achievement" from 3 and a half hrs of solid play this morning. Really struggling.
The only words to come out of my mouth have been "arggghh!" "f#ck" & "f#cking c#nt!"
I'll submit a pic at a later date.
Rankings updated.
Yeah, I know how you feel, lol. Usually when I'm playing one of these, every word is an f-bomb. Sometimes I'll get creative with them, the angrier I get. For example, "seven f#cks and a duck!!!" is one I'll shriek at the screen every now and then. No, I dont know where I got that.
If we had to go with another Konami shmup for whatever reason, I woulda much rather done the Salamander games; they're a bit.... strange, with the switching between hori and vert, but they also use a different powerup system. One thing that always bothered me about Gradius, was the situation where you'd get like 5 orange enemies that'd all die in a little heap, and leave this blob of powerups behind; I'd go to grab exactly ONE, to get what I wanted, and manage to get THREE instead, something like that.
Or we coulda done Mega Zone. It's an old vert from them; it's unforgiving, but actually a pretty good game. Might be worth checking out.
I may end up giving it a go after all, as it's been AWHILE since I've played these, and my view of it may be different this time around. It's also not bloody Parodius, so it's at the very least got that going for it.
EDIT: And then I got to stage 2, and was very bluntly reminded of MANY reasons why I hated this series so much. Whoever thought up the bit at the end should be A: fired, B: never allowed to work in the industry again, C: kicked by a horse, D: kicked by a second horse, and E: banished to some remote island. Oh, and F: kicked by some more horses.
One of the most broken scenes in any shmup, that bit. And I seem to remember that the damn game pulls broken stupid crap at the end of EVERY STAGE. The volcanoes in stage 1 arent much better. And other games in the series pull plenty of that crap as well.
Yeah, I was right the first time: bad game. No submission.
Oh well. I at least gave the horrid thing a chance.
