Whoever designed the green stage should be shot.

Just thought I'd say that.

There's a REASON why other games have things like the installations in the first stage of Gradius that launch enemies at you. Or the hole in stage 1 of this game that enemies come out of. Having them randomly come out of completely solid walls..... NOT good design. Every other stage in the entire game is fine by me..... JUST this one is terrible. Even the Clawed Whatsits in stage 2 jut out a bit and twitch before they pop outta the walls.

Every game in the series unfortunately seems to have a couple of sections that have the "remember it EXACTLY right or you *will* die" problem.

In an hour and a half's practice I've managed to learn and pass stages 1-3, but in a submission run it's been absolutely appalling. Not a fan of this game in the slightest... There's a reason I always avoid playing it *weeps*

I'm also going to try the XBLA version.
Those new graphics look sleek to say the least!

Don't be so hard on it, man.
You'll be praising the game soon enough, I'm sure.

Yeah I know. I felt the same about gradius. I can 1 life the first 3 stages so there's at least some progression. Stage 4 once I die is as good as a game over. The green wall section Half way through is where I keep getting wiped out

I can usually get to the middle of stage 4 on one life, then die just before grabbing the second of only 3 'Bits' in the game. Then I lose the lot by the time that 3-way splitting ship comes on.

Cheers Mr Storm, pleased to see my misspent youth has entirely gone to waste! Started playing it in about 1988. First ever go I got to level 2. But I was already in love with it from screen shots. I will be very upset if I can't get to level 7 before too long.
