.......wait.

There's MILKING in this? In fr

.....well, my interest is utterly gone. No submission. There's nothing in the entire genre I find less fun / more stupid than milking. I'd play freaking Parodius before I'd do that one.

Kind of, I suspect trying to survive and saving lives and scoring higher on those later levels would be more beneficial. There must be huge scoring opportunities on the factory level. Just give it a go you might be surprised

Neh, I'm bored to death pretty much instantly with milking of any type; the only thing it does is make the game take longer. And I of course have no patience to begin with, heh. Hell, I cant even WATCH it; normally I love watching superplays, but the moment milking begins I try to fast forward past it, lest I die of extreme boredom.

And when I think it over.... yeah, I can actually see the concept working with quite a lot of checkpoint-based older shmups. And while I love R-Type, the scoring system may as well not even be there anyway, so...... feh, screw it.

Mostly playing Ketsui at the moment anyway, as this genre goes.

hmm always some excuse Misery eh? I know how good you are at the genre, so why not just play and submit a score.. a matter of days ago you were playing this game anyway you said and how much you love the series..

On a side note.. new threads with all our scores for Gigawing and Gradius now in the high score section for those of you who want to better your scores at some point.

I have also created a Facebook group after someone mentioned about starting one so people could interact easier if they so wish.

http://www.facebook.com/groups/332379713514918/

What do people think about moving the league to it's own forum or are they happy with it being here. I'd like to let a few players who used to use this forum (who refuse to return) play in the league as they have shown interest. what do people think? I dont want to make it open to too many people because it will kill the fun out of it, but would be nice to have a few other players.

I don't use facebook myself.

Smraedis - .SM - 279,300 - 1-6 - MAME Japan ROM - On
Stage 6 is pretty nasty, prolly harder than the rest of the game put together.

Oh dont get me wrong, I do enjoy the R-Type series alot..... only one I havent really played is Leo (which is also the really wierd one).

......but I never played this one for score. I quickly found that when I was overly trying to kill EVERYTHING to get points, I ended up smacking into things stupidly more often than not (this is a recurring theme for me, with this genre). So there was already a little frustration with it. In other games this tends to result in me doing things like ramming the damn bosses, or stupid crap like that; all the skill in the world dont mean too much when you awkwardly crash into the very first boss of one of these. One of these days I'll stop doing that; that day is not today.

As it is, I wasnt in a very good mood when I posted that earlier (and was blasted on caffiene again), so I may take that one back, I think. I really must stop posting things when I'm feeling particularly irritable.

It depends, though. If I'm finding that scores WITHOUT milking cant compare to similar-ending-level scores WITH milking, I'll *definitely* stop.

Oh, and if you want to set up a forum, that kind of thing might be a nice idea. Though I wonder how many people you could get to join one.... much as I always hate saying it, it IS a niche genre, after all....

Good idea on the FB group, Ben.
If I weren't an atheist I'd say thank God this is a niche genre after all !!! :)

It was Grunthos' idea about the fb group.

In regards to my own forum. Thinking about it.. It's a lot of hassle. I was just thinking that we could have separate threads for different things etc without spamming up here. Anyway if we are still in business in a few seasons then I'll review it.

So season 2 I think will start almost immediately. I don't see any reason to take a break. I'm having too much fun torturing myself On rtype at the moment, which by the way I'm starting to like. Just need to beat this damn stage 5 boss to be be able to one life stages 1-5. He seems to have no relevant pattern you can learn... Smraedis help?

I've noticed the pattern depends on how many pieces have been shot off, before it moves. If you leave it, it will always go straight forwards, which is one of the worst patterns it does.

I don't really know much about it, though this is the second question about it i've had pointed towards me in the last half hour. Strange that. So fill me in.. I think i remember it being team based. Do you need a team to enter? Have you played in it before? Perhaps a silly question?

Edit: hmm so perhaps we could have an RGF team? If anyone is interested

It's July 30th to September 3rd.
Yeah it is team based, but you can join any open team, or randomly get assigned an open team.

hmm at first i thought it would be suicide, but if I go in with the same attitude I have here (no, not moaning about every games difficulty in the first day but ending up clearing it and eating my words), which is to just enjoy the games and not worry about competition, then it could be fun. Also, it would give the league here enough breathing time between seasons.. the STGT would finish September 3rd, this league finishes at a guess, mid August, so it would only be a 2 week gap or so.

So who is interested in joining me on Team RGF? Need a team of 5-7 players. Would require some of you to sign up to the forum (easy enough) if you're not already on there and have time to play the games. Seems there's 5 games over a 5 wk period.

I think you'll do well.. I've usually not liked the games selected, but still done well in the end.
I'm already assigned a team btw.
