From the archives: Tape magazines?

Postby NorthWay on Sun May 20, 2012 6:33 pm

Argus did a line of tape magazines with reputed adventure game writer Peter Wossname as editor.
How about an article on this interesting enterprise? You could even split it up over more than one issue with each issue covering a separate machine.

I have several of the translated(!) issues of "64 Tape Computing", and the adventure games were typically very good IMO.

Well, we had the recent article on the cover tape wars. There were several magazines out there, and Argus could make a good from the archives (a two-parter with Grandslambet, maybe)

I remember them!!

True Grit - the western adventure game was their first one, some space adventure (can't remember it's name) was the 2nd.

They also did a adventure compilation the high light of which was a dungeon crawler type game, think Bard's Tale, it was rather good (so I recall...)

This is a great idea. I have fond memories of discovering several 'issues' of the 16-48 tapezine at a carboot sale in the early 1990s. It felt like I had discovered a time capsule revealing a long-forgotten sub-culture within the Spectrum scene (or something).
