Modern Movies With A Retro Feel

Hi all, this post came about as I watched "Trick 'r Treat" last night and I was expecting a disaster, turned out to be quite a good watch! The reason I enjoyed it is that it didn't try to be a serious horror and it went back to days of films such as Halloween, so are there any recent movies which you feel hold a nostalgic value to them? Looking to do a blog post if I get enough feedback!

Drive feels like the kind of film that Michael Mann would have made in the 80s.

Kung Pow is made up of old-school Kung Fu films.

Honestly, Limitless felt classic to me.

Also, Scott Pilgrim had a NES feel to it of course.

The Box feels really retro, as does Zodiac, proper quality 70s vibes in both with lots of shades of beige and brown.

Moon with Sam Rockwell harks back beautifully to 70's style thinky SciFi, but weighs in at an hour and a half, so doesn't outstay its welcome like some older movies did.

One of the best films in the last decade, for me.

Drive has a very Steve McQueen Bullit feel. Plus the 80's music ost really helps

On the subject of the grindhouse movies, Drive Angry which whilst not part of them, really felt like watching a 70s exploitation movie. Okay, it's not Oscar material by a long shot but it took me back to those far off times.

Similarly, the film 'Black death' felt just like a Hammer film from the 70s. I was waiting for Christopher Lee and Vincent Price to turn up (which may have been difficult given that the latter is no more).

Super 8 properly looked like it was made in the early 80s.

You're talking about The Asylum's 'mockbuster' Death Racers, right, that features ECW's Raven as the main star? They put out films like that all the time trying to cash in on the success of recent cinema releases. They are absolute, utter, complete censored garbage, but I can't help watching them when they're on SyFy. Transmorphers and Alien vs. Hunter are two of the worst, though their version of Sherlock Holmes where he battles a steam powered mechanical man and dinosaurs is so stupid it's actually quite fun.
