Not a word of a lie,but I came into this thread to specifically talk about this film. It was on the horror channel last night and its got a real 80s slow burn slasher feel to it.



Others I can think of are Donnie Darko,Feast (a real old school hand made monster horror film. Recommended) and The Host(watchable south korean monster nonsense).
