Identify these toys

Postby jdanddiet on Mon May 28, 2012 3:29 pm

Was at a barbecue yesterday, there were a few kids there so the hostess brought out a big box of her kids old toys. Amongst them was a complete Optimus Prime and these:-

Is this guy from Mask?

ImageImage

I think this chief sherpa (or something) and one of the guards from ROTJ?

Image

A He-man character? I guess Merman? Maybe, erm, Merman will know.

Image

Now this one had me puzzled - it said lucasfilm underneath so its obviously from star wars but I don't remember it from the films.

or this

and this looks like the remains of a snowspeeder!

Cool stuff.

The top characters are from MASK. I forget their names.

I'm sure the Star Wars tank thing was released as a Hoth vehicle after ESB hit the cinema. Not sure it was in the films though as you say JD. The other Star Wars item was part of a gun emplacement/turret I think.

One of The Emperor's Royal Guard and Chief Chirpa

Spot on, its Merman from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

A Mobile Laser Cannon. Which isn't canon ;)

Kenner got the rights to design some new vehicles that were small scale (so cheap) to support the figure range. I never really liked them, most of them don't quite fit the overall design of Star Wars, though the troop transport was passable.

That is a Snowspeeder cannon. They were never very secure and often fell off.

Impressive Ant, I figured you'd be along to identify the Star Wars, but didn't expect you to get everything!! :D

Felge got the one I was finding most awkward, I wasn't even sure that was a Star Wars toy.

M.A.S.K. isn't a show I really watched, that was the work of Google. I quite enjoy the search, its always fun to browse through toy catalogues. There's some bizarre looking M.A.S.K.s for a start. One of them even looks like a marital aid.

I never had any doubts ant
Sorry I should have mentioned tha power thing was also SW. It looked incredibly cheap and tacky, icant believe it sold on its own rather than as an accessory to one of he larger toys.

In all fairness that Energizer is missing some bits, I don't think they elevate its status that much above naff though :D

thats a great website by the way felge - brought back memories of the bounty hunter toy (cap3) and that strange vehicle int 4 or whatever!

I wonder if the Ron Salvatore who wrote some of the descriptions is related to the author?

How odd, I had everyone of those toys myself except the energizer thing.
I also concur about the Star Wars tank, it was rubbish.
