Yeah, they do seem to have the stronger storylines, and the more interesting police partners' relationship. I suppose that the writers did try with the younger brother, what with the undercover storyline, but it didn't produce all of the goods.

Last night I watched the finale of 'Blue Bloods'(season 2). I then watched more of 'Mad Men'(season 5), and it was a very sad episode.

It was on to 'Awake' next. You have to stay very awake(pun intended), as the Rashomonesque storyline can get very confusing at times. A shame it was cancelled. This series has only just sort of started as well!

Sad to see Marge Battenburger depart CSI on Tuesday. :( Ted Danson is fitting in quite well though.

Caught up with more 'Awake' last night. It was then on to the second season of 'Game of Thrones'. I wish they had included a recap of the first season, as it is quite a complex story. Really great stuff from HBO. I watched three episodes on the trot.

The King of Fighters (the recent live-action version)...ugh. Another fighting game movie that p1sses all over the legacy of the games and offers very little other than a confusing by-the-numbers movie for people who haven't played the games. Avoid.

Zombieland, I enjoyed it but I don't think it lived up to some of the glowing reviews I read.

Still the best of the CSI shows, but... I saw an ad for the first season last night and, man, it used to be a much better show :(

Prometheus.

There have been some quite average reviews, but I'd give it a solid 4/5. Being a massive fan of the Alien films probably helps, though isn't necessary at all to enjoy it.

Plenty of links to Alien, with some great design and effects. A few daft bits, but even Alien has several bits that I'd have done differently from a believability point of view.

Last night I watched more of the second of 'Game of Thrones'. So parts of it are quite graphic - definitely not for the squeamish! A really good series so far anyway. I'd put in my top 3 current TV drama shows(behind Mad Men and Breaking Bad).

wait til you get to the battle of blackwater, its probably the finest hour of television ever.

saw prometheus and Its an average film at best. the creatures and visuals look excellent and there are some nicely paced moments but overall i would say the film is a mess, the characters just make stupid decisions throughout the film (and not your usual "lets walk through the forest of death to see what made that squelching sound")

I am a major aliens fan and if you go in as one you may come back disappointed, but as a sci fi film its merely very good. all im saying is, you can tell that the guy behind Lost wrote it.

I was looking forward to Prometheus, now my best hope is that its not an utter disaster. Way to lower my expectations.

Watched Prometheus today in the VueExtreme 3D screening.
I am a huge Alien fan so had high hopes for this and have to say it pretty much lived up to my expectations.
Brilliant film, both Mrs Tachi and I enjoyed it and found all the acting pretty much spot on.
Apart from 4 things that niggled me it rocked and deserves a solid 8.3/10.
The 4 things niggling me are 2 non-spoilers and 2that are spoilers.
Non Spoilers:
The main actress, Noomi Rapace, for some reason I abhor her. Something about the way she looks just turns my stomach and that detracted somewhat from the experience.
Secondly, as in all the alien films (hence I don't class this a spoiler) they use headcams for their crews 'in the field'. With the technology displayed in this film, how come they suck balls at making wecams that are anything but dark, grainy and unreliable? Really made no sense to me at all.

As for the Spoilers (Read at own risk as they are biggies):
At he end of the film, when the Promethean climbs into the pilot seat I figured he would die there as the ship is clearly the one they discover in years to come when John Hurt gets all fudged up and as such he would have chest-bursted in the chair in order to be found by the Nostromo crew.
And yet he dies elsewhere, after being faceraped by Cthulhu's baby?
Am I mistaken or is this a change of resolution decided upon by Ridley Scott?

Secondly, the whole Weyland subplot seemed wholly pointless. He was on the ship and wanted to be healed/saved...big deal. They all planned to speak to the aliens about it anyway and I don't see how his request for Charlie to be infected would have achieved this? Seemed a weak reveal and a lacklustre followthrough.
