Sorry - never actually introduced myself before - came to this thread from another and another etc...

I joined after browsing for ages and reading the mag too

I have been playing games since I was about 8 , raised on a healthy diet of spectrum. Bought my own first spectrum at the age of 14 (1990 - yes IT was behind the times but I did have a big collection I couldn't bear to ditch just then) then bought my own Megadrive just before christmas 1991 (funded by my paper rounds and hefty tips from grateful customers) - despite everyone else being arrogant and smarmy about it not being an Amiga . Those same people were the ones coming round to play Streets of Rage shortly afterwards.

Have worked in several Cash Converters and Cash Generator stores , been buying and selling retro on ebay since 2001 and have a reasonable knowledge of retro gaming as far as I know but am always open to learning more.I enjoy retro shopping anywhere I can love charity shops and second hand stores more than mainstream shops but Im never too fussy.Sadly have a habit of buying nearly everything,as I have heard some shops throw it away so I buy it,sell or trade it and buy more.

All I need now is some space to store it all

My console of choice
Sega Megadrive

Favourite Games
Rainbow Islands (spectrum/megadrive) , Mercs (MD) and Shining Force (MD)

Never introduced myself so here we go:-

Average short of guy who loves gaming (retro and next gen) but also enjoy football, reading and anything techy. First system I played/owned was our family Dragon 32 but only really got heavily into gaming when my brother bought a C64. Naturally advanced to the amazing Commodore Amiga and played this to death. Owned most systems like Saturn, MegaCD, Dreamcast, Xbox, GC and most recently PS3 (until recent events, dreaded YLOD). Love all types of games but some of my favourites are Champ Mang series, Uncharted series, Frontier and the greatest game ever Bubble Bobble.

Currently playing some classics on the Amiga and have set myself a game complete list starting with Monkey Island series but my nemsis will always be Mario All-stars on the SNES.

Always happy to answer any questions or give me opinion so any questions please fire away.

Hi all. Been a RG reader since beginning. Don't really know why I never signed up to the forum until now, but better late than never.
Started my gaming life way back with one of those Binatone TV Master thingies. Went through a few of those type of machines, and tabletop games, until I eventually upgraded to a VIC 20. Still remember opening that baby on christmas day, and playing Dracula and Tut's Tomb. Best memories are still Spiders of Mars, and Gorf (IMO the best home version of the game), and the day I eventually found a Super Expander for sale in the logal games shop. Then moved on to C64, probably the best machine ever. Too many happy memories to list them all, but even as an adult, I got excited when deliveries arrived from Shareware Plus, and Binary Zone, and of course the day my copy of Mayhem in Monsterland arrived through the door. SInce then, have had (in no particular order) Atari Jaguar, Gameboy, GBA, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, and currently DS and Wii. Many happy memories, and hope to build a MAME cab one day, but for now will have to settle for laptop plugged into TV with Logic 3 joystick. Favourite games of all time must be (apart from those already mentioned) Galaxians, Dragons Lair, Frogger, Congo Bongo, Mappy, Wonder Boy, Bubble Bobble (all arcade), Winter Games, Leaderboard and many many more on C64. Special mention has to go to Tempest 2000 in Jaguar. Must say I'm no fan of Mario or Sonic games, especially Sonic, they just bore me. Any way, that's me so Helloooooo!

Hi all, been a reader of the mag for the past year or so, decided to give the forums a bash!

26 year old from the UK, been a gamer as long as I can remember! First console was the Mega Drive, I can still recall playing Sonic the Hedgehog that Christmas day morning! Been gaming ever since, but recently found myself returning to the Mega Drive/SNES/PS1/N64 games of my youth (not as retro as some of you but hey!)

Massive fan of RPGs, especially Final Fantasy and Zelda, but also love me a good old fashioned shooter like R-Type or Raiden. Big fan of companies like Treasure, Dynamite Heady remains one of my all-time favourite games.

On a personal note, I spent 4 years living in China as an English teacher, which was quite the experience! Returned to the UK about 6 months ago and still trying to figure out where to go from there!

Looking forward to getting to know people here and getting involved in all the retro goodness!

Hi Mario - perfect name for a gaming forum.
Some regulars here might not agree though!

Hi
I found this site earlier googling old games so I spent a good few hours rating my old favourites, voting in the faceoffs and then decided to join the forum too.
I'm a huge fan of old games, my top 3 are FFVII, Lufia 2 and Wings on the Amiga, RPG is my favourite genre and the SNES and Amiga are my 2 favourite weapons of choice because of the amount of top quality games they offer.

Hi Everyone

Just joined the forum after getting into reading Retro Gamer recently.

I suppose I've recently been getting more and more into retro gaming as a whole the older I've grown (coming up to 20 now). I started off gaming with a Megadrive then eventually moved onto a PS1 from there I got into gaming hugely and have ended up buying a ton of consoles and games since then. It's only now though that I can see all the great games I missed out on through my childhood and it's only now I'm beginning to catch up on some. I like virtually every genre of game but I guess my favourites would be RPGs and Adventure games etc

Yeah so I guess I'll start to get a bit more active in the retro scene

Hello,

I'm Chris. I live in Belgium, am 34 y/o and have been playing games for over 20 years now. I'm a Dreamcast nut, but also love playing other retro and not so retro consoles. Also done a few mods, like overclocking a Dreamcast, adding a second Dreamcast bios, backlighting a Dreamcast VMU, and some other stuff...

I used to post on the Racketboy forums. But got recommended this place by o.pwuaioc because I got fed up with the hypocrisy and yuppie mentality of some of the Racketboy forum members. He said you guys are more chill...

So yeah, let's have a look shall we... ^^

PS. Posting this picture on Racketboy's forum got me an official warning and a thread lock:

Mod - Dont take the biscuit. A lot of people view this forum at work during their lunch break, if you want to post pictures like that do it in the 'not safe for work thread' not here.

Consider this a test...
