That will definitely happen on blogspot as it's like a little community, you start to recognse people and see and chat to them on different blogs.

Well, I started it last night - not giving out the link yet because so far it's only got the introductory post and then a time/space-filling post - neither of which have any relevance to retro-heads. It's fun though!

The other option is Wordpress although I tried it and didn't like it. It's more complicated to use from what I saw but could possibly be better if the time was taken to learn the ins and outs of it. Blogger/Blogspot is cool though. Aside from the occasional formatting irritations (such as having a single paragraph spacing appear as a double spacing for no reason when the post is actually published - really use the preview feature!) it's served me well so far. Plus, my messing about with hyperlinks and stuff, it's possible to make it look like website when it isn't. The fact that it's all free is just a bonus.

If you look at my blog for instance, the links on the sides to different archives of reviews etc. are really just links to very old posts that I published and 'reserved' for filling up with more links to the individual articles. It makes it look like different web pages when it isn't. Stuff like that suits a lazy git like me who can't be bothered with real website software

Erm... Don't suppose anyone'd be able to tell me how to make it so that the pictures are smaller on the main page, but when you click on them they get bigger? On Blogspot things? I've seen it done on other ones, just can't figure it out here.

I've just checked my own blog and clicking on any image in a post brings up some sort of slideshow-type thing where the pictures are enlarged and you whizz back and forth through them. I certainly didn't do anything to 'enable' this so I'm assuming it's automated.

Well it didn't work in the preview mode - maybe it'll work in the "main" mode? I'll just check and see what happens...

EDIT: Ha, it worked! Cheers for that :D

I do believe that it only works on the main mode that people view.

In create mode it just gives you options to change the size of the picture.

It usually only works for me if it's a picture you've uploaded yourself and not taken from somewhere else on the web....if that helps? If this is the case, you could save the pic, and re-upload it again yourself.....

Looking forward to reading this blog once you're ready! :)

Yep, it's sorted now, thanks for the help though - I was only looking at it in preview mode.

Just going to clear up some borders, maybe do a couple more posts, then I'll put the link in here for everyone to tell me how shit it is :D

Personally I just take all of my images from the web but just save them to my computer under different file names before uploading them to my blog. I know that blogging is a non-profit thing but I always wonder if somebody one day will contact me about nicking their images. With no screen capture technology though, reviews of games would be pretty boring and image-less so what can you do? Just avoid watermarked stuff though (unless you can edit/crop the watermark out in photoshop).

My first post for a long time: http://gameandwrite.co.uk/?p=676

I'm continuing to play the 1001 games I should alledgedly play before I pop my clogs. With 994 to go, I better pull my finger out. I hope you enjoy the article and as ever, your feedback is highly valued.
