Steve, why do you keep trying to start a fight about CGEU/Replay events. These petty digs are starting to get on my nerves. If you think I am not being impartial as a mod then please raise your concerns with one of the others who are not involved in CGEU or Replay Events. I didn't reply to your question because I didn't see it. You will have noticed that I am less active on here these days and don't find the time to read every thread!

The reason I haven't stickied your thread is that the event is 12 months away. We have a large number of threads already stickied and if we start stickying everything regardless of how far in the future it is then it quickly gets out of hand. You will notice that the other 2012 event does not have a sticky thread either, there is no conspiracy here. BUT - there are other mods on the forum and any of them can sticky it if they like (though I have noted my concern about the number of stickys in the mod forum).

You have misunderstood big time then! I am trying to find out who is involved in the Newquay Event so perhaps they can be contacted to see if they have a major problem with the date clash. I don't see why they should though, as whether RV is held on the same weekend or a weekend or two before or after, I can still see it affecting both events in the same way being so close to each other. But also no one knows anything about this Newquay event, who is running it, whether its confirmed etc... But see Dave seems rather upset about the clash so simply trying to find out if you guys are heavily involved with it and if so whether its CGEU or Replay Events Ltd. Whats wrong with that and is that a petty dig in your honest opinion?

The other event does not have a thread at all! and no one seems to know (or admit to knowing) anything about it, which makes it difficult to create a thread about it. RV2012 details are all confirmed and tickets will be going on sale soon.

I would un-sticky the group photo thread, the king of quids thread and both the football threads (Why are these stickied when the F1 thread is not?!?). It did not go unnoticed that the RV2011 thread was un-stickied rather quickly (dont know who unsticky it so no digs). The Replay Event thread in November has been stickied 7 months before the event (nothing against the organisations involved, but it has). If there is a 7 month rule for all events I am happy with that, but it should be the same for all events and agreed upon between the mods and letting others know in some way. Or just do away with all individual event stickying and just leave the upcoming events thread stickied (and unsticky those bloody football threads!)
I'm gonna burn your house down. With a lemon.

Lets keep this out of this thread now as it is supposed to be a public service to let people know what great events there are around the country.

Steve - for the record yes, I am involved in the Newquay event. No, there are no further details at this point. If you want to talk to me about it then lets do it by PM. If you want to raise concerns about which threads are sticky and which aren't then I suggest you either PM Darren (as head honcho) or send a PM to all of the mods, that way it gets discussed by the group and no one gets special treatment.

Lets forget it. Lets just forget everything. I don't even try to upset people and they get the wrong end of the stick. I just do this for fun. I don't make a penny out of this (I loose far more than I gain). At the moment this is not fun and I am not enjoying it. I'll just let everyone else decide what they want to do, if they want to do it and when they want to do it. I'll shut up now and f*ck off. Carry on...

^It costs every one to go to them. Hotels aren't cheap.

Setting them up is a bit of a pain for all that do.
Well maybe less so for my Computer club as its to well organised

just keep your event on the date planned! you have a fairly regular following, so i'm sure it will still be a success! personaly i don't see a problem with events clashing! its going to happen eventualy anyway! and people can make their own minds up on what they will be doing!

i personaly believe that an event in 2012 is too soon to worry about! i havn't decided what to do for the rest of this year yet! except for REPLAY of course! (still taking dip donations ;) ) and i also think that there is far too much sticky'd at the moment! i agree its time the photo thread came down, but dispite not being a fan myself, i dissagree about removing football threads just becouse you don't like the game!
and as for doing this for the money, i don't think any of us do! i lost roughly £250 on last years dip alone and over the last couple of years i have lost well over £500 on the others i have done, becouse when i'm out and about i pick up bits for it! (including one of your keyboards!) i don't claim a penny back, and i enjoy every minuit of it!
and i take personal offence at any suggestion that favouritism is involved in sticky's, becouse if it was, you can bet your a$$ my dip thread would be sat at the top! (it would save me rescuing it from page 3!)
and before its bought up, yes i am an honourary member of the CGEU, but my position is volunteer charity fundraising coordinator! and it is a service i offer to ANYONE running an event! (so long as a charity is involved) and as dave and gordon will confirm, nobody tells me what to do, and if they try, they are usualy ignored!

to finnish if you want a thread stickying, ask a mod, if they don't get round to it, ask a different mod! then if you don't recieve an answer good or bad, you have cause for complaint!

Just a few suggestions for the "Long-Term Events, Exhibitions & Displays:" section currently displayed in the first post...

The National Museum of Computing
Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes
http://www.tnmoc.org/

The Museum of Computing
Swindon
http://www.museum-of-computing.org.uk/

Both would make excellent additions to this currently empty section.

Ignored as per usual

Sorry but as this is a recurring monthly event if we sticky the thread it would be there for ever! That isn't really fair.

Travel (Petrol) and hotels are not cheap, but I was actually going on about loss costs for those who help out running an event and providing kit, get nothing extra in return and still loose out with no compensation. I recently had an expensive multicart stolen at an event and was £67 out of pocket as a result, although it is more the principle we are now at the stage where people are starting to steal other peoples things at events which is depressing and off putting. I recently took my 37" LCD TV to an event and it got damaged in transport (even though it was protected), so a replacement has cost me £350. The only exception is R3play, where some bits did go missing and got broken and I am glad to say it is in the process of being sorted, but everything that has recently happened has put me off taking any kit to events, so I will now only be helping out with RV kit, RCGF Kit and kit at any event I might co-stage in the future (currently looks unlikely, with all things considered).

No offence is intended here, but the reason setting them up at computer club is easy is because all your kit is on site (no need to transport it all there and back), and there is not much of it (4 or 5 consoles?). Standard Consoles are easy to set up, but when you start setting up 15+ systems (think we had 30+ at RV in the end!) from 4 plastic boxes including Rock Band Instruments, PC's and real computers and rarer systems, and then start moving some around to get 60Hz USA systems to work full screen with CRT TVs and trying to get some of them to work on a projector, setting up and packing away is far more of a pain. If you think you could organise setting up and tear down at next years RV to make it easier and less of a pain you are welcome to help, as this is the part of events I hate the most.
