8 bit lounge have a monthly gaming event at the Hare & Hounds pub in Birmingham every month. Next one is on Tuesday 10th. I'm always there and take some of my own stuff down. Before you ask, "8 bit" is just the name, anything retro goes.

They'll also be at this event at Symphony Hall tomorrow. I'm not sure what it'll be like, but I'll be there too.

Hi folks,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but the Museum of Computing in Swindon are holding an event this weekend (on Saturday 14th April) to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Mario Kart (is it really 20 years?!?). I'm not affiliated with the museum, I've just visited a couple of times and I got an e-mail about it and I figured maybe some folks near Swindon might be interested in going along (I'd love to go but I'm not sure if I can make the journey from Torquay).

There is more about it on their web site and they'll have Mario Kart on the SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Gameboy Advance, DS and 3DS. The event runs from 09:30 to 17:00 and admission is £2 for adults, £1 for children, £1.50 for concessions and a family ticket for £5.

You're welcome to pop over to our forum at http://www.edinburghretropc.co.uk though and say hello, there's also info on there about when we're having our next meeting, which everyone is welcome to attend.

Hey guys! Very much a new member but I have been running retro tournaments at Orange Rooms in Southampton for over a year so I thought I'd give them a little push on here. They are relatively humble, casual events but very fun all the same. I have had tournaments on Street Fighter II (snes) Mega Bomberman (Mega Drive) GoldenEye (n64) Mario Kart Double Dash (gc) Mario Kart 64 (n64) Smash Bros Melee (gc) and more. Maybe not as retro as a lot of people on here might like but ah well! Here is a link to the facebook group, from which you can become a member to view the upcoming tournaments.

http://www.facebook.com/groups/retrogamingtournament/

DATES:
Sunday 13th May 2012 - Street Fighter Alpha 2 (snes)
Sunday 10th June 2012 - Mario Kart Double Dash (gc)
Sunday 8th July 2012 - GoldenEye 64 (n64)
Sunday 12th August 2012 - Super Smash Bros Melee (gc)

Hopefully see some of you soon! :-D

A little comment on one of the games.
Alpha 2 is a great game and a great SNES conversion, but why not on something like the Saturn?

RV 2013 is on! We had to move ahead and book the venue so figured we might as well launch everything else along with it ...

Cheers to all for the support thus far ... awesome ...
