I could only make the Sunday, so I decided to take my recently acquired driving license and brave the M62. Crosswinds are not fun and neither are the jerks in flashy cars who cut you up. Needless to say, I took the A roads home...

EuroCon was great. I only got my ticket about a week before the event due to one ticket being returned, so prior to the day I had done next to no reading up as to what was on show.
The comedian was a fantastic surprise, I was expecting a day filled of gaming with TwoheadedBoy, but in between found myself giggling at programming jokes.

TwoHeadedBoy took time out try educate me to try change my lack of love for the older consoles such as the Coleco. I must say, he was rather successful, but ill probably need more recommendations shortly. The Ghouls N Ghosts repro/homebrew was rather impressive.

I was looking forward to trying a ZX Spectrum Divide too, however once I got the chance (after the comedian) the room had been cleared and populated with local folk :(

But aside from that I had a lovely day. Was nice chatting to Rinoa and her fella, meeting Ryans brother (who could be mistaken for a longer haired version of him) and meeting a few other forumites :)

Shame you missed it. It was a cool bit of kit, I'll be on the order list when the next batch are made. Andy from RCM kindly pointed me in the right direction. The high res demo running on the zx81 was impressive too, beats flying a v through a load of asterisks anyway :D

Had a hell of a time! Thanks to TwoHeadedBoy and all the others that were there. Everybody was sociable and up for a chat, so much so that I got caught up and missed out on Samurai Shodown V for £10. Bah!

I was half in preston, half in Manchester the whole weekend but would have loved to have been in Mancs for the whole shindig.

Some random highlights...
Channel 5 people politely asking if they could reshoot something as the people behind them had shouted "F**KIN' HELL!" whilst playing Astro Wars.
The little kid who played Layer Section REALLY well, which made me want to play it. Turned out he was only using one button and he still got further than I did.
The RCM people in general.
"Hey, you're called Matthew too! And you're wearing my shirt!"
The NEC console...thing during show and tell. [/list]

The quality of the food also seems to have gone downhill since last year imo. Who puts lumps of Rock Salt in Scrambled Eggs and gives you a tablespoon's worth of Baked Beans in a small butter pot with a breakfast meal? The only good thing was the Welsh Rarebit although they also seemed to have run out of bread on Sunday (probably due to the toast incident) and were using rolls.

This was really the only low point. They didn't take kindly to having their mistake pointed out either.

Still a bit of it left on my hand - that's one seriously good permanent marker!

Surely you don't expect him to wash - you did refer to him as 'pond scum' on Saturday night after all!

We must ensure we do not clash at the next event, my friend... ;)

Well that was another great event!

Thanks to John, Steve and everyone else involved in sorting out the whole shebang, it was a classic!

I enjoyed meeting some new people and the usual suspects... and nice to chat with the RCM guys..

I played more games here than at any other event.. and do you know what.. I actually really enjoyed it! ;)

I like the Lass as a venue, a pub with gaming machines in, just wish the beer could be a little bit cheaper..

I liked doing the auction with Witchy (we should definitely do that again)..

Liked th Atari 2600 comp, pity I Iost the final, but pleased to get there after my Indy 500 mess up!

Enjoyed the other little gaming sesh's, Virtual Tennis on the DC (did better on VT2 than 1!), the basketball thing on the Neo Geo and my Sensible soccer marathon with Filecore and SirC..

Enjoyed the CTRL+ALT+DEL standup comedy...

Loved Manchester... what a great city.. esp the "nitelife" ;)

All in all a brilliant weekend, and hearty congrats to all involved in setting it up. Here's to Hamburg 2011!

And then there was The Hawk.... :)

Like Eurocon a lot last weekend as the event pretty well structured like for example the comps, show & tell( I was nervous wreck there ), interviews with likes of bob wakelin & the comedian.
The timetable of each thing going is a good idea better than some other events where they have to wing it & found you wasted your time.
The RCM guys showing all their rare wares.
Didn't go on the night on the tiles because of money restrictions but slept at Hotel Dprinny's with company of woody.cool & the parrot.
Overall the event was great
