I get by. I don't regularly put in at least 67.5 hrs of pure graft a week like I used to but I still graft away for not very much, really. All I give a f*ck about are my stress levels, I like them to be looooow. If I'm despised, then so be it.

Relatives asking to borrow money when they know you haven't got any, and it wasn't that long ago they had thousands spare in their account...

Did I ever ask them? No. I have my pride.

ITV and 5* with The Princess Bride yet again.

I'm sure there was another one but cannot remember which one. Was surprised that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wasn't on again.

ITV 2 seems to show 'About a Boy' a lot. ITV 4 showed 'Yakuza' 4 times in one year about 2 years ago.

Looks like I caused a bit of trouble on the old economics front! All I was saying was I'm annoyed with people who bought houses for pennies in the 80s/90s and now are trying to make unrealistic profits, mostly at the expense of first-time/first-home buyers who will be locked into huuuuge mortgages for the rest of their lives.

Of course they're entitled to do that - but this is the grind you gears thread so I hope to grind my gears with impunity! If I can't do it here, then where...???

That doesnt annoy me, well it annoys me that i didnt buy a flat in the early 90's but oh well, live and learn !

Thing is a lot of the subjects in this thread are funny as theyre so hypocritical. Say you bought a flat tomorrow for 100k, in 15 years time 'if' prices go crazy and its worth say 300k would you sell it cheaper because of the 'crazy unrealistic profit' as 'to help people get on the property ladder' ? Course you wouldnt.

Those people who made a huge profit on their house which they bought in the 80's, fair play to them. I know i wouldnt feel guilty if i sold a house i bought in the 80's now.

I bought my first house in 1992. it cost £32000 AT THAT TIME it stretched my resourses to the limit. I sold it in 2005 for just shy of £100000. I don't feel like i've ripped anyone off. Why should I? The house i upscaled to cost a fair bit more, and i had to pay current market value for that...so i don't really see an issue here.

Grinding my gears is people who enjoy spreading doom and gloom and then refuse to believe me when I point out what they're saying is bullshit. Some people really are a bunch of censored cretins. Facebook is the tool of the devil.

True, its all relative really, unless you are downscaling or moving to a cheaper area. What annoys me though is when you buy a house, pay extra for the 'proper' surveys etc, everything comes back ok. You, complete, move in and then discover that it is actually a house of horrors. £50'000 later....

The Knowhere Guide.
Type in the name of your hometown (especially if it has a somewhat... negative reputation) and prepare to be depressed by the stream of verbal diarrhoea shat onto your screen.

YouTube comments have NOTHING on this...
