Back when I used to use the WinMX networks it was a known downside of file sharing. Companies, unable to stop people downloading their IP would have employees plant large, utterly rubbish, files into the networks to be downloaded named as tempting media.
It was reasonably effective, as it could double the amount of time it took to find media on these sorts of networks, and usually discouraged the casual downloader, on dial up, who was paying for their data.
These days it's not so effective with super fast connections and unlimited data downloads, but it's interesting to see it's still being tried.

It tends to be malware downloads these days rather than the blank files of old. These (falsely) tell you you need a new codec and to go to the site to get it. I dread to think how many gullible people have fallen for that.

Recently with torrents, I have found the files to be password zipped, and a text file telling you to go to a website and complete a survey to get the password

Going through someone else's code when they have no concept of sensible variable naming, and comments are something that happens to other people. Grrr.

People that upload things to sites that say they have a free download thats if you want to wait 9999 seconds.

Add on to it I went on possibly the worst one ever a few months back.
It had "Download now" banners all over the place, all adds the free download was hidden right at the bottom of the page in very small writing

I then open it to find.....



There's no disc. I'm being 100% serious, but will their Customer Service department believe me?

I've been reading about missing discs on other forums, not just with Kick-Ass either.

Play may have sorted out the packaging issues but I think their eyes where bigger than their stomachs releasing so many steelbooks close together (there's another 6 next week!)...I think my order may be f*cked up but I won't know 'til monday.

I also got American Werewolf in London, which was fine. I presumed the packaging would be done by the manufacturer rather than Play?

Oh - and the cardboard slip is a load of rubbish as well. It isn't attached in any way so will invariably get lost or damaged

I meant packaging as in the cardboard outer, but yeah, the manufacturer is to blame...I think it's a third party though (not play or Universal). Play have to rectify it.

I've read that some are glued and some aren't, seems random.

I put all my steelbooks in these: Plastic Sleeves
Generally you can fit the J-cards in there aswell, well worth a fiver.

Its sound bad mate but claim you never got the thing in the first place, it will be easier than trying to convince customer service that the disc is missing
