This is why I've stuck with MP3. Everything plays them. I'm surprised you're surprised you're having problems with a MS audio format.

More surprised that an older phone can play something of superior sound quality and a newer phone can't. Unless this is modern non-Windows phones trying to block anything Windows/MS-related on purpose? Most of my music is in WMA format because it gets ripped straight from CD's via WMP and since the format is fine with my MP3 player (and older phones), I've never had the need to change it.

Using iTunes to convert them... there's your problem.
Plenty of freeware available that'll do the job much faster.

Already most of the way through now though :( . The main issue that p!ssed me off is the fact that the newer phone wouldn't support the same WMA files that older one did. If it did then it would have been a straightforward memory card swap but it didn't work.

Personally I'm not a fan of phones or the culture centered around constantly upgrading them but my Sister is the opposite which is why I'm bogged down with this conversion job  . Oh well.

All the more reason to stick with MP3 instead of a proprietary format. WMP should let you rip to MP3 (well, it used to, I've not used it in years). iTunes does if you change the preferences from yet another proprietary format.

Cool, I'll remember that for the future. The stuff I'm messing with now was already done in WMA format a long time ago but I'll definitely consider where I want to be putting music when it comes to future rips.

Complacent ***holes in this economy, who walk around at work with constant mood on their face. They have a job in this economy!! and probably a decent paid job too!! Young adults are severely depressed or comitting suicide these days because they can't find work, and then you have these ***holes who take it for granted, and never bother to smile at anyone while at work. Step back then, Im sure there would be a line of 100 graduates looking to replace you in a heartbeat.

All because people have a job doesnt mean they have to skip to work ! People might look like that as they have had a stressful time at work or have other issues like a loved one ill etc. You also have people with jobs committing suicide as well you know for different reasons.

:? I think I need a bit more info on this comment.

I used OGG once and the next day someone wanted it putting on a CD, or playing on her computer. At the time this was a serious problem and I ended up having to play it and record through the sound card back into Audacity so I could MP3 it. Lots of things don't support it, so I never used it again.

I don't see what other option there is. Everything supports it, and you can increase the bitrate to whatever you want for better quality.

Using propriety formats is the worst idea ever, so what other option is there?

Or was the comment about people not using CDs or Vinyl?
