The King of the Quids Competition Thread

Postby jdanddiet on Thu Dec 30, 2010 11:58 pm

COMPETITION NOW CLOSED!

For those of you who don't know, this sterling competition was originally run by Weekend Gamer and involved gamers entering their best bargain buys for a pound.

The rules are simple: you must post a picture in this thread of your game and the receipt, preferably in the same photo, but mainly, legible. A price sticker is also recommended but not a necessity.

All the entries will be collated over the year and games will be eliminated to a manageable number, from when polls will be run, like SirClive used to do before. The elimination round will obviously depend a lot on the number of entries and be conducted by SirClive and myself.

£1.00 is the maximum price for a game to be entered.

A game can only be entered once, so if someone else already found Radiant Silvergun for 99p then TOUGH :D

Online purchases are NOT eligible

The closing date for the competition is the 30th September 2011. Games/receipts will be accepted between the 31st December 2010 and this date.

Oh and one final thing: all games MUST BE COMPLETE AND FULL VERSIONS!

I never keep receipts... and most of the stuff I pick up is from boot sales or tatty markets where you don't get a reciept...

But from memory, Mario Kart Double Dash (GC), Metal Gear Solid Black Label (PS), Sega Rally (Saturn) and damn near every megadrive game I own (most CiB) all for £1 each... The most I have paid for a MD cart has been £2.50 for Star Wars 32x...

The point is that the competition starts now - stuff you have bought in the past cannot be entered, and you can't count stuff bought at boot sales because you have to show us a picture of the receipt.

JD, I think you should set a closing date for when entries must be in by so that it doesn't go on forever (I think SirClive used to do that) and also keep track of all entries in the first post...

I ran it for 6 months, but to be honest that was only so we could do a WGAx episode when it was all done. I would say do 9 months, then you have 3 to sort out the shortlist, finalists, voting etc and announce the winner on Christmas day. But I am sure JD has a plan.

Loved King of the Quids. Gives me a chance to find a bloody good bargain (unless some old tech savvy gran has bunged it all on ebay under the pseudonym of spence  ).
