I got a MINT condition hardback first edition Coraline book by Neil Gaiman for a staggering 10p from the Salvation Army by me.
TEN PENCE!!

They also have about a billion VHS films that are free to anyone capable (and willing) to actually take them away!

Yeah them British heart foundation ones are bloody expensive

Yep but not as bad as the Oxfam in Northwich which is still charging £5 for videos. Most places have signs up saying they don't want to take them anymore.

Yeah, I've been in the Northwich Oxfam several times I dont know how they make any money, prices are horrendous. However, I have had several nice finds from other charity shops in Northwich.

I often find oxfam are the harrods of the charity shop world, seen so many books I wanted in a small oxfam bookshop but they may as well be churning them out at full price, only a few pence difference between and new and second hand sometimes. Even tried haggling with them and they just look at you like you've just asked to have a go on the till girls boobs.....shocking.

Always find British Heart Foundation to be a bit realistic with there games/dvds/book pricing, help the aged isnt too bad.

i love charity shops. i found about 20 boxed, sealed 90's PC games in one near me - sadly, i don't have room for a collection, nor were there any that particularly appealed to me - mostly sierra online titles, but i put them on ebay and got around £200 for them. they sold them all to me for £20, despite them being priced at £3 each, which i would have paid. i didn't even have to make an offer :?
i also recently sold a game gear + games i picked up for a combined £7 too.

charity shops are great...

Pretty chuffed with finding this Metal Gear Solid + VR Mission bundle on saturday for 4.99

The cardboard sleeve has some wear and tear but the actual game cases and discs are immaculate

Local stores here in Plymouth are absolutely useless.
Got a pristine SNES for £10 with 2 controllers and a few games but that is literally all I have ever found outside of the Antiques place (which it turns out was, in fact, pretty crap in itself...)
In our local market there are 2 retro shops which sell everything 8-bit to the newest stuff but their prices are frigging ridiculous! £25 for an Unboxed Streets of Rage 2?
No thank you....

The oldest things Cash Converters do now is PS2 sport games :(

Cash Generators on the other hand still sell retro stuff. Odd thing is though is that the games are always about £1.99 regardless of condition or rarity. The consoles themselves though the prices are through the roof.
