But if the quote is right, then someone told him he had shaken his hand? Surely he would have known with the reaction of the players and at half time that that clearly wasn't the case? I always had a lot of respect for Kenny , as he had all the old traditions of LFC at heart, but this latest incident is dragging the club's name through the mud. Liverpool was always more about the team than one individual; sadly that no longer appears to be the case.

Oh yeah, I forgot he said he didn't see it at all. Maybe he asked someone and they said "I think so." Or maybe someone did intentionally lie to him, I wouldn't want to be that guy when Kenny found out.

Either way, Kenny clearly doesn't want to talk about the controversy so he'd be better off saying nothing, rather than make excuses as to why he can't comment.

Congratulations to Zambia, a poignant triumph and perhaps fateful considering the tragedy that beset their team off the coast of Gabon in 1993.

Indeed - its a great story, especially considering the final was held in the same place were all of the 93' team died.

Good to see Wiki is full of sensible comment!!

Used to really like Liverpool and Dalgliesh but the weekends events have totally changed my views. Kenny seems to be coming up with any excuse, now obviously hes finally said a statement and so has Suarez after no doubt the MD and perhaps the directors gave them a rollicking.

You could understand Evra declining to shake his hand but Suarez doing it ? Ridiculous, he was found guilty before, just shake his hand and move on. The way Liverpool FC have acted over the whole thing (before his teammates supporting him and then 'suddenly' getting rid of the suarez is innocent t shirts when he was found guilty!) just ridiculous. Wouldnt mind if it was another team but Liverpool and their great history, just a very ugly episode

For once i was cheering on Man Utd at the weekend, first time ever

I have to applaud Liverpool, they've managed to become the most hated team in the country and unlike other recent candidates like Man Yoo, Chelski, Arsenal they don't even have the "you're jealous of our success" arguement.

As for Kennys comments, as his rant began with the "contrary to what I've been told". The reason the handshakes went ahead was because both players had agreed to the handshake. Though to say after the game he didn't realise it hadn't happened when everyone went mad, there was a big brawl in the tunnel as a result of it and half his own team not giving him a handshake and "good luck" thing before kick off that something was awry... Of course, Louis now lying to the board and management so bluntly, I assume we'll be hearing of his fine in the coming days.

In other news, glad Spurs got their thrashing out of the way this week rather than in the cup next week!

McCarthy has been fired from Wolves and both Portsmouth and Rangers are heading into administration.

Fun day in football.

Aye, especially for my Da, who's a huge Wolves & Rangers fan. Not sure his views on Pompy, I think he's fairly indifferent.

Portsmouth being deducted ten points would be good for us as it will mean that they will be level on points, dragging them into the relegation battle.

Saying that though, after yet another loss last night it might not matter anyway.

Despite sitting 4th in league one, setting a record by going 43 games unbeaten and only losing three games this season Lee Clark has been sacked as manager of Huddersfield!

I would love to know the reasoning behind that.

Out of the relegation zone, woohoo.

2-0 win over Coventry (sorry IronMaidenRule) and Portsmouth being deducted ten points means that we are now three points clear of the zone.

Any Cardiff fans round here? I'm going to Wembley on Sunday, hopefully should be a good atmosphere with the Craig Bellamy connection between the clubs.

I know they haven't been on a great run recently, but they're still riding high in the league. We've been patchy all season, of course.
