As a former Mod (and admin) of several World of Warcraft community sites I can tell you that 95% of all Modding happens behind the scenes.

I'm not sure how it is now, but for me the first 20 minutes of every half hour session was always deleting spam threads so nobody ever got to see them. From the outside looking in it appeared that we weren't doing anything at all, but that certainly wasn't the case. No siree bob. In fact we had a spate of spambots posting porno picture links everywhere, but rarely did any forum user ever get to see them. We were that good.

Some of us would get up at 5 or 6am to mod a site for free, just because they wanted to help the community they were a part of. For free. They certainly never lorded it over anyone. Neither did they use their powers for their own agendas.

Just saying. It's a hard-knock life being a Mod. There's no glory involved, just dedication. We shouldn't piss on that.

Gee the podcast section seems to have more spam than the van of spam

Not really, the sites ive modded ive had fun.

Rhyming as I ban.
Deleting all that spam.
As soon as I can

One guy warning me if I ban him, so I did.
He then rejoined up and started ranting, banned that account.
He did that twice more
Premabanned with the message "five minutes to join up, five seconds to ban and rid your posts, its your time"

If this thread's proven any one thing it's how utterly arrogant and selfish a lot of you are.

I don't really care what you think Clarence, because the only one getting into the realms of insults here is you, which says a lot more about you than me.

All I want is for the forum not to be full of spam, and spammers, and people taking the p!ss out of rules that are actually there for a reason just because they've got a problem with playing ball with everybody else.

Not too much to ask, is it?

I don't care that you don't care, so there. Just having a little joke man, no need to go running to the mods and getting all shirty... luv you really.

By the way, you're breaking the AUP there in your post, careful now - rules are there for a reason...

 Oh right, fair enough. Guilty as charged, guv'. Obviously other people are more clued up about intricacies of the AUP than I am (and I don't mean you in particular, Ant).

You also quoted a post where I bypassed that stupid filter too. So I guess we should both be getting our coats!

Seriously though, kids as young as 4 are effing and blinding, so who gives a fugg what's written on some website? It's not as if we're so conscious of our behaviour that we're actively imagining a swear word on some random website is going to send Little Johnny mental. No, it's the five hundred thousand porn pages he went past to get here that'll do that!

I'd just like to see all the spam gone, with next to none appearing like used to before this week started.
