lol..I when and done a brand new render of the joysticks..as these one fit the time frame back then, I think it's the red nob is doing it in  ..I'll change it to black and flaten out the joystick sockets too..but it will have to do as I really need to get a move on with the content..but if I do a over-haul on it , I'll repost it.

Edit: overhauled it now..looks better, the red nob was the perp

any update on the publishing status of the book ?

i agree with some other opinion regarding the sticks, they look awfully fake and i wished it could be changed, otherwise the #1 cover is pretty good as is.

the arcade itself was made in 3d or 2d vector ?

cant wait to see more of it...

Thanx for interest, the joystick have been finalised now and cover design one is finished, regarding the coin op itself parts are vector and the others are bitmap, but at very high resolution (300dpi), the status of the book is in full swing development wise, I can't go into much detail at the moment, but it's gonna be big..I have a good friend who is a proof reader who has been very decent to help me out with it, as this is more or less a one man product, but as time gets on I will be updating people on the progress etc..so stay tuned for more information soon..there is lots more to come..

I know they say don't judge a book by its cover, but you really need to sort that CP. It has rounded corners instead of being integrated into the cab sides. It has no depth in any direction, it looks like a piece of paper. None of the buttons have any depth, they look like pictures of buttons stuck on the CP. This is the book cover, its the first thing people see and it'll be judged by it. I know I'm being really critical with this but it'll be better for it.

okay I've fixed now..I think..as I can no longer commit more time to the cover, but I think re-rendering the cp has work out better this time around..

Cover 1 looks really nice apart from two things:

1. Woodgrain screen bezels simply did not exist!
2. That control panel layout only exists for one game that I can think of (Defender) - why not just do a more generic one to match the generic cab style, with 2 start buttons, one centralised joystick and a couple of fire buttons each side of the stick at most. That would be much more appropriate to the style of cab you have on there.

Sorry, I know others have already commented but this is the first time I've looked at them.

Oh, and cover 3 - the cab on the left looks like a candidate for the crap MAME cabs site! What's with the tiny screen and oddly-positioned joysticks?

Edit: in fact, isn't it this one? ;)

Greyfox, that is such a vast improvement I'm staggered at the change. I thought I was going to have to nag through incremental changes but its pretty good now. Its the right size and shape, it looks like its part of the cabinet, all the parts look solid, its in another league from previous versions.

As Witchfinder has pointed out, the button layout is unusual but now you've got a working CP to render that fits the bill, it might be a quick fix to shuffle the buttons and do one more render. I won't push you overly for it though as it is a cohesive design now.

I assumed the tiny screen on cover 3 would be sorted if you ever got round to filling the holes in the cabs, as the small hole wouldn't be visible. I'm guessing these are rendered from 3D cab models you found on the net - do you know what games they were for? Just curiosity really.

The render of the cab cp on design one is infact a defender rebuilt I did in 3d studio max and the coin ops on design 3 have been filled in and created in adobe illustrator based on some classic coin-op images I had here, I will address the wooden veneer in cover one as it seem to be the problem now, and make it black veneer, should keep people happy :), I'll rearrange the buttons etc..so it should be a go'er then .. Again thanks for all the feedback and honesty, it's helped me make it what it is now, so again thank you every one, and if some of you haven't voted please do, I'll like to see a high count on which cover design was the best ...but judging by the poll it seem cover design 1 is gonna be the selected choice.

Cheers

Grey ;)
